I did some valentines nails with gel x and then did an acrylic fill on them. I usually use builder gel but my cats were all over my stuff, some of their hair can be seen in the nail polish on the second set. I would appreciate any critique on what I can improve!

On the valentines nails, I would suggest buying some "Caviar beads", you can get them very cheap and they are extra small balls to put into the gaps when doing designs with bling. It helps elevate the look from DIY to pro in my opinion.

on the acrylic, the ring finger, you have the nail growing out same direction as the finger. try to make the nail appear to grow out straight..so if the finger bends of to the right the nail needs to correct this towards the left..a nice little trick to see if you have the nail coming out straight is to line up an orange wood stick from your knuckle to your nail, make sure the stick goes over the middle of the finger this way you can see where the middle of the nail should be... that's how i learned it.. hope it helps

That's a great tip! I had no idea that the orange wood stick trick could be used for this purpose. It sounds like a really useful way to make sure the nail is growing out straight. Thanks for taking the time to share this!
