Gelish is starting to annoy me!

Thanks, I'll give it a miss. There were a couple marked down in my local trade store which makes it a bit better for the price. Wonder if they were returned too....

Wouldn't waste your money. It's tiny so will definitely have people knocking their fingers and the reversible tray looks like it would snap very easily. I put it straight back in the box lol

Just been to pick the lamp up... It's cheap & nasty for the price so I'll be returning it and buying the gelish one :/
I have the gelish lamp and find it really good and have no problems curing any of the colours I have. I've only just started out and struggled with the price but it was so worth it. Look professional as well if you have the same product throughout I think :)

The INK London lamp looks the same as the Gelish one and is cheaper x

I have the gelish 18g and love it . You could buy a uv lamp just for short term to see if you get on with gelish .

Is it just my idea, or are they the same lamp from the same manufacturer with just a different brand name imprinted?

Pretty sure that's the case, the UV wavelength range is 395-405nm for the INK lamp, not sure what the gelish lamp specs are.

Yep it looks the same to me!

They aren't the same. Look similar but the quality isn't the same.
I have the 18g and my friend has the ink London lamp. x

The nm for all uv leds are on the spectrum between approx 365 n 410.... all....
Whether you buy a cheap one or an expensive one....i havent finished researching this yet.... but i did look into it out of pure interest..... im by no means suggesting to buy a cheap lamp... im getting 2 ink londons for christmas
But when you look into it... it does seem that that these companies are ripping us off lol.... a uv led bulb is the same... they're all on the same wavelength.... the only difference is branding... the amount of bulbs and wattage . ..

I didn't want to sound rude but I 100% think that you're paying for a brand name. Although some are of better quality too which is what I'm looking for. I've used plenty of different branded lamps with different brands of gel polish and hard gel and they do cure properly. I don't think they do, they do. So I'm not sold on the 'you must buy the lamp for your system' because you don't have to [emoji5]️

This is interesting. I'm newly qualified and bough myself a cheap led lamp on the recommendation of a friend. I'm testing it st the moment and only had my first play with it last night. It is very small so wood be good for if I went mobile etc. I have only used is purely to do my nail pops so far. My question is this...when I wiped the inhibition layer off there was a small amount of colour come off with it. Does this mean it hasn't cured it properly? As I say, I'm still new to this so wasn't sure if this occurs every now and then? I bought this lamp as an experiment really so I can still send back if it's crap! I use gelish Polish abd cured for 30 seconds, colour and top cost. Interested in your thoughts x

You started this post saying you are having problems with peeling etc.
You say you are doing everything right with Prep and using Gelish colours but you aren't using the Gelish lamp.

Then you say use u know that all lamps are the same and you apparently don't need to buy a specific lamp for the brand you are using.

This is why you are having problems [emoji85]

Maybe go through the threads and read up on it and you'll realise it's done for a reason.

Excuse my French but I'm really getting annoyed with colours not curing properly, it's only dark colours.
Can anyone suggest why this is? I've seen a few posts about 'looking for a wingman' but it's happening with others too.
I've changed a clients colour 3x now because of peeling. My prep and procedure is fine it's literally just not curing fully. Could it be my lamp? I use uv not led.
I'm worried as I've seen a few posts lately about this topic and I really do not have the time for this messing around over Christmas. Any help would be greatly appreciated X

I'm wearing Looking for a Wingman just now and not having any problems with it but it does need careful application for it not to wrinkle. With Gelish colours that are like this I put them on a radiator or in a cup of hot water to heat them up a bit while I'm soaking off and prepping. It's much easier to apply them thinly when they are warm.

Gelish has and always been a complete disappointment. I invested years back and found it awful to work with.
It could chip, shrink when cured, darker colours and red were the worse.
When I discussed this with the wholesalers they said It was the way I applied the product which was the issue!
I have one of the strongest lamps and have No issues with the other gel brands I have used.

I now use glam lac on acrylic and idb for natural nails. I find some gel polishes don't bond to the acylic (idb).
If you can be reimbursed for the product do. It's the pits of gel!!!

I've been using gelish for 5years and have no problems. Yes, some of the colors pull back but I just go over before getting the client to put their hand in the lamp. 2 extra seconds. Some don't get along with it, as others don't get along with other brands (personally I hate shellac, couldn't get it to last) but its definitely not the pits.

Cheekychick I never said all lamps are the same...
I simply said I've used several lamps with several products and had no issues whatsoever so you don't need the same brand lamp as your product.
I've had issues with 3 people and these people have had the colours that others have complained about too and also the three other techs that I work with that have been in business for over 20 years.
I however went on to say I don't think I'm applying these colours thinly enough like others suggest so that is my issue.

Lots of techs use Idb on acrylics without problems
And lots of techs use gelish without any problems.
You've just clearly had a bad experience.

Without being rude have you thought that maybe it actually could be something you are doing?

I've used gelish for 3 years now and never had 1 single problem with it. Clients come back after 3 weeks with nails just as perfect as when they left the salon.
