Hi geeks,

I'm getting very frustrated with one of my clients. I've been doing her lashes for a good few months now and there seems to be a problem every single time I do them, yet she keeps booking in.

The first time I ever done them, she said she lost a lot within a few days. I've been doing lashes for six years now and only once has this happened to me before and it was because the client was facing around with them and rubbing her eyes and god knows what else. Obviously with this new client, I wasn't sure what had caused it, I gave her the aftercare advice.

Anyway, to keep her happy I went to hers and topped up her lashes after one week to a full set, eventhough the previous week she had only paid a half set. She said she wanted them fuller so I did this free of charge because I didn't want her to be unhappy with them and I still don't ow why she lost so many. So that was that.

Then the second time I done them, she complained that one eye looked fuller, so I had to add in a few more eventhough they looked perfect to me.

The third infill she says she wants them thicker, so I do that and I count them at the end and make sure there is the exact same amount on each eye! And she still says "that eye looks fuller"... Her lashes were a full set , there was nothing I could do, I couldn't add anymore lashes! I explained it could just be the way her own lashes are positioned and that they look really even to me. So that was that.

Then the fourth time, she books in for a "mini infill" after two weeks instead of three because she wants a top up before going away on holiday. Lashes looked even before starting, so i infilled them evenly. She looks in the mirror afterwards and says thanks, then pays me and leaves. I them get a text when I get home "lashes appear fuller on one eye. I should have said". I don't know what she wants me to do.

The thing is, I spend one day a week out of town seeing a group of clients who live there, she is one of them, it takes me an hour to get there and an hour back. I can't just drop everything to spend 2 hours on travel to pop a few lashes in one eye when they are actually even. I just feel like she seems to be unhappy with every infill but she keeps booking in again and again. I've never had any problems like this before and I'm just getting really frustrated now, even after sitting and counting out over 100 lashes on each eye and making sure they were even, she still says the weren't so what can I do?

If I had my own salon I would say to her pop down today, I can count them and pop extra in if needed but I don't have my own place, I'm mobile so it's hard. And I just feel like this is starting to become a regular thing, I'm having to spend a lot more time on her lashes than anyone else's.

I just feel like I don't know what else I can do now, or even say to her!

Difficult one, but what about a call out charge say £40. Next time she books just explain you now have a call charge, so she must state any problems etc at appointment, other wise you will have to charge her x amount to cover your travel etc. That should stop her.

I would just sack this client off. Can't please them all.

Just tell her you are fully booked and as you can't seem to satisfy her at every appointment you think it's best she finds a new therapist that will meet her needs.

Echoing what has been said before:

Tell this client that you don't feel like you're the right therapist for her, and recommend she starts seeing another.

Banner Penguin has worded it perfectly. You don't need the stress or the cost in petrol!!

This is sounding like quite obsessive behaviour to me and you are enabling her to continue with it at the detriment to your business (and your mind I'm guessing!)

You need to bring her to heel. Try telling her that you don't feel that your lashes and service style is suiting her, but you can recommend someone that she may get along with. I bet you she will start to modify her behaviour, after all, like you said she continues to book with you.

Sack her, some people are never happy, they like to moan so to get discount etc.

If it's always the same eye that is 'fuller' than the other why not start putting like 5 lashes less on that eye (I'm not a lash tech so don't know if you can just do less eyelashes - sorry if not) and then say to her that you've done it so that they're 'balanced' and definitely cannot be thicker because you've put less on that side?

If that's not going to make her look odd that is - if you can't find a way to appease her like that without it making the finished result look strange I'd agree with everyone else and refer her elsewhere.

I agree sack her,
Otherwise you could photograph her lashes? If yes you can show her at the time and maybe get her to state at the time of appointment she is happy with the completed service. Then she sees how they look and if still not happy advise another tech.

I'm assuming you have a range of curls, thickness, length and tried them on her?

Or you can advise she has 3d lashes which you may/may not do and advise her to find a tech that does?

However if you've done all the above then I would sleep well knowing that you tried everything but can't keep everyone happy, move on from her :)

Hi geeks,

Yeah that's the thing, I've got a big range of curls, thickness, lengths to choose from but I just feel like she's never going to be happy. I text her back saying they were even before and after the infill, there's not much more I can do. And she didn't get back to me so that's that!

Sone people x

Sounds like she needs her eyes testing. If you are sure that there is nothing wrong with them, then stick to your guns and say so.
Personally I think she is a chancer and just getting more out of you for nothing.
Stick to your guns, she will go elsewhere when she realises that she can't have freebies.

If I went somewhere and there was a problem, i would be doubtful I'd go back.

The fact that she keeps coming back, I'd say she's trying it on.

Just get rid and move on, don't lose any sleep over it

She's just booked in for an infill in two weeks... Don't get it!

Mad! I had a client like that, complained about everything before I could even start the consultation. Her treatment results were fantastic, I had photographic evidence ( botox) but never happy. After 6 appointments I told her we were never going to agree on her treatment so advised her to find another practitioner.

She was gobsmacked and said I had to do her treatments! Erh nope I don't, and with that I asked her to leave!

Some clients have personality disorders and can never be "cured" so best to move them on as they take so much from you. It's self preservation. See what she's like at infill if still complaining make sure you get rid! Let us know how it goes :)

To be honest, she keeps booking in because she knows you will do what she asks when she asks ! As someone said before is it the same eye? If so maybe alter slightly..

And maybe ask her how she feels about the appointments as you feel she's never 100% happy yet keeps booking you. And as much as you appreciate her as a client, you want clients to be 100% happy at first appointment, without having to do a second call out each and every time.. Yet It feels like she never is.
