Yesterday I was searching something on the web (it was not a dodgy site) and immediately the screen stated that I was had been attacked by several viruses; worms etc with Vista Anti Spyware alerts flashing onto my screen.

Now I've had this happen before, but when I click off them, they don't come back. This one refuses to budge and flashes up on my screen every 5 or so minutes despite clicking on the 'b*gger off go away' button.

I am protectd by McAffee and clear of any any problems. How do I get rid of the vista rubbish permanently?

Also, several weeks ago, a colleague appeared to email me suggesting I click on a link and register to receive free samples. I now realise it was to access my email address, and although I did not complete the process, I now keep receiving hundreds of spam messages in my inbox . I use the option to block the sender, but all this does is send them to your spam box. They still have to download .

Any suggestions please? I would be very grateful.

The warning is actually a fake and its to encourage you to buy more security etc but actually its a scam site so they'll get your details and use them elsewhere, we had it and it does worry you but I knew we had protection so wondered what it was all about.
i'm sorry to say I can't remember what I used to get rid of it but if you do a google search on vista antivirus scam it should come up with some answers.. I think i did a free avg spyware removal thingy ( technical terms I know!!) .
I am Mrs Paranoid when it comes to internet security so make sure any link you click on to remove this problem is genuine and not a scam also?????
i'm sorry if its not much help :irked:

Penners thank you for your post. I know it's a scam, but don't know how to get rid of it, although I took your suggestion to google it and immediately found lots of spyware removers. Thank you. I've tried one so will see how it goes.
