So I’m currently in a full time job & doing beauty on the side, I’ve done that for 2 years now and I’m coming to the end of having a full time job and want to do beauty by myself full time, I’m tired and want my life back !!
But I am scared, my partner is very supportive and wants me to do this, but I’m just scared!
Is there any advice anyone can give me [emoji4]

TIA [emoji4][emoji4]

Hi! Firstly well done for starting a business! Only the best of us can do that for a start.

What I will say is that while only you know what is best for you, I’ve found among self employed people that we either go for it and take a massive risk or something bad happens and we are pushed into the decision.

Eg, I was doing Tans 8 years ago on the side, I worked 7am-11pm in recruitment and then my staff would come for Tans after their shifts. It got super stressful but I knew I couldn’t stop the tanning.

Then I worked in a sports centre for a couple years for 4 days a week. The shifts were either quite early or late so I could work at home pretty much any day. I worked my little heart out and carried on. Then I had a chat with my boss because I felt ready to move on but was also scared to dive in head first. We agreed on a 2 day work week and he hired someone else to cover my other days! All because I had the guts to ask.

Eventually a health issue caused a big meltdown and I had to go for it heart and soul.

It worked! I’ve been full time at home for about 3 years.

Consider that there will always be that money there but the fact it’s on the side now means you aren’t giving it the time, once the extra time is there, there will be more customers and more money.

But I really do think that the part time and then tiny time was best for me before I got the final call!

Yes, never had any help. Except for these wonderful geeks!

Most stuff you will have to figure out yourself, but you need to go through it to understand it.

But any specific questions fire away

Thank you! So awesome you've made the jump!:) Would love to know how you found your new clients and what the biggest challenges are you've found about being mobile? Thanks!

Biggest challenge was probably Facebook. My own biz model just doesn’t work with Facebook. The only clients that would find me would be all about discounts and trying to get free stuff/not turning up. They were a nightmare. There were of course wonderful ones aswell that I still see but I stopped bothering with Facebook 2 years ago and I’m happy and my biz is better off.

Mobile? I wouldn’t ever do it again. Tried a few times. Every time I thought it would be different. Think..clients not telling me about fresh paint and wrecking a £70 bag for a £30 treatment, wandering off in their house and not coming back for ages, spending 2hrs trying to do a 20min treatment. Not answering the door for 15mins. It’s mostly balls. You grow a pair really quickly and you get cleaner on what your boundaries are.

Best thing was deposits or full payment. I wouldn’t go anywhere without payment first.

Good luck, have a look at the business section you will find all sorts of things you won’t have even thought of xx
