Hard gel over acrylic

Hi

I do gel enhancements and my boss does acrylic. She's on holiday for 3 weeks so some her acrylic clients are coming to me.

We had planned on either filing down / smoothing out the acrylic and just doing shellac, or soaking off acrylic and doing a soak off gel enhancements till my boss is back.

I've been doing some reading and trying to find some threads, but they're quite old, and some say you can do gel over acrylic...

I wouldn't have thought mixing systems would be ok, any advice is appreciated.

It is perfectly fine to rebalance Gel with L & P , or Vice Versa

You are not mixing systems you see , You are prepping the nails then applying your enhancement product on top. It's no different to applying shellac on top of L & P or Gel enhancements. It would be different if you took a primer from one system and used it with another for example.

Just rebalance as normal. The only issue I could see is that French clients may not have a perfect colour match for the pink but if most get colour put over their enhancements I wouldn't worry about it

Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. I remember working in a salon years ago, due to a fire down the road we had no power for nearly two days, rather than turn all our gel clients away all infills were done with acrylic and then back to hard gel on next visit (was before the days of gel polish!)
