Hi Im just starting out, done my basic Manicure/Pedicure and My Minx Training, thinking about going on Calgel course, but dont know if I should start off with Shellac instead, Im think on Calgel they will show me how to apply tips and gel extensions so at least then I could do extensions for clients as just now I dont know how to do this and I dont want to do a course in acrylic.

Can you Shelllac over a cleat Calgel extension?

Should I save my money and find some course that can show me how to apply tips only and jsut go with Shellac.

I would love love love to go to college part time or full time to do HND in Beauty however hubby works very long hours and we have no family near to help with babysitting and of course cause of hubbys salary we get no financial help. The goverment dont make it easy for us stay at home Mum's to retrain and get a job. (sorry Im moaning)

Therefore Im trying to build a business gradually am starting with Man/Ped and Minx but would like to add something else.

Gradually I will add Tanning, Waxing, Makeup, all in good time though

Please please any advice guys.

Confused!!

Excuse my typos

Shellac & Calgel are two totally separate things hun. I would invest in Shellac anyway, as it is an instant string to your bow and easily my most popular service, but if you want to be able to offer gel extensions, then you need to do a gel extensions course.

Shellac is not a gel, it's a gel-polish hybrid - so you'd use it for giving added strength to natural nails, & longevity of wear of polish on natural nails. Yes, it can be applied over gel nails, but over finished gel nails and not over tips in place of a gel overlay.

Calgel, on the other hand, will enable you to extend nails (through tip application & gel overlay or gel sculpting), as well as offer gel overlays as a separate treatment.

Hope that makes sense!

I would highly recommend Shellac, your clients will love it and keep coming back for more. I would also recomend doing a Brisa course as well, although it a buff off gel rather than soak off, it is a fantastic product. If you contact The Fingertips Centre, they will be able to give you more advice and information on the products and training.
Hth:)

Thank you guys, really helps.xx
