Hi, I've read through old postings on here about IBD soak off gel but can't find the answer I am looking for.

I have always used IBD builder gel and coloured gels and have recently ventured into coloured soal off gels. I bought Midnight Special and Be Mine to try, the Midnight Special went on like water! It was very wishy washy and slipped around on the thin layer of clear gel I put on first, and would have needed about 10 coats to have any kind of colour and it was supposed to be navy!

Be Mine however went on lovely and is a very vibrant pink, the only problem is that its got a lot of silver glitter in it and while its very pretty it looks a little bit young on my 38 year old finger tips!!

Has anyone tried any other colours? I am loathe to buy other ones if they are all going to be wishy washy and not the strong colour they claim to be on the pot. I don't really only want to offer colours with glitter through them.

Any feedback would be greatly received. :)

Also, what is the difference between gel polish and soak off gel as they are both on the IBD website as different products.

I had to give up on IBD soak off, I found it too runny to do smile lines even after flash curing, and the white was pretty transparent. Apart from french and clear the only other ones I tried was a pinky one with silver glitter in it, I think it was called satin something? Runny, but seemed to go on ok. And a purple one that didn't build colour up very well. Again, a bit too runny for me to work with. And despite all the appropriate prep, they peeled completely off in one huge chunk. Looking at the stats for my website a lot of people actually ended up on my gel page after doing a search like "IBD soak off peels right off" etc.

After a many trial sets months ago I put them to one side before actually using them on customers, hoping I would get the hang of it in the meantime, but I just can't work with it. I'm going to bin them. I was silly and bought a kit for £80 without testing them out first.

Are the gel polishes not buff off colours?

Thanks for the reply Magick, doesnt look good, does it!! All I want to do is provide a colour gel that doesnt need buffing of (this really irritates me and I find it takes too long!!). I like the idea of Shellac but as I use the complete IBD system including lamp, it's going to cost a fortune to change to CND. Can anyone else suggest anything?

Gelish is a soak off & covers very well. Soaks off in 10 mins & doesn't need a special lamp.

Hi there,
Ive used IBD since I first started and I have just gone to soak off gels for the NNO's. I must say I have no problem with it so far. i always mix the colour first as the pigment sits on the bottom of the pot, this makes it not so wishy washy. As for soaking them off....Ive only soaked one set off so far and it was ok, not as easy as i thought it would be...but i did use acetone and not the soak off gel remover so i dont know if that had n e thing to do with it......hope that helps :) x
