I usually re book them in the heating part
Haha mine all have to get diaries out etc but good idea if you can

Edit : I only have a uv lamp so 2 min cures for me, not 30 second

You have to add a minute to apply? And another minute to cleanse?

Plus my ladies very often need repair as well but the results are excellent

Have they cut the timings since it first came out?

I took on IBX in Jan 2016 and I don't think the instructions have changed since then.
I allow 15 mins extra for an IBX add on. I do use a timer otherwise chit chat makes me use the heat for too long. I also have an LED light.

It's changed since I started doing it - erm - about 2 years ago I think, they've shaved a minute off here and there now so I'll be doing the same! Most of mine are stand alone treatments for some reason? I forgot you could use LED for it altho I don't have one :)

Do you need to use prep and prime after IBX or you can just startvwith a base coat? What about cuticles. This part confuses me. If you push back and clean cuticles after IBX wouldn't you scrape the product off.

Yes this confused me too!
The thinking is ... that using cuticle remover before the IBX will swell the nail so the IBX is not absorbed as efficiently.

What I do is give the cuticle a bit of a push back as part of the removal of previous gel process. Then I do the IBX routine , then I do the cuticles properly with remover product.
Seems to be fine this way.

I use shellac so once IBX is done then I use scrub fresh and straight on with the base coat.

You can't remove IBX from the nail once it has been cured under the uv light .

Alright thank you very much for explaining it to me. I must try it i guess to understand how does it work.

Looking for some more advice about ibx.. Just bought it to try on myself and just bought the ibx.. But reading the instruction leaflet it suggests that under gel polish you need ibx AND ibx repair whereas I believed the repair was for those nails that were all peeling and in need of... repair! Also, is everyone that uses ibx trained in it? I know about the insurance side of it. X

I would like to know how much you charge or do you charge for doing one/two nails on a client.... You have to do the whole heat lamp and curing etc routine but just for a couple of nails what would you charge?
I'm thinking about getting Ibx but I know a couple of my clients just have the odd flaky nail and the rest are perfect.

There are lots of threads discussing IBX charges etc when you a chance to look at them.

I wouldn't do just a couple of nails personally. Full set or not at all.
If a client had minimal problems I would be recommending them to use solar oil or Cnd Rescuexx.

Some nail companies had vitamin base coats - perhaps another Geek can tell you about these?

What heat source do you all use, nail fan dryer, or 100 w lamp ?

I just bought the light from Louellabelle with the IBX products. That way I was confident I had the right heat.

Doesn't the lamp from louellabelle have a 40w bulb in it? X

Yes, their lamp has a 40 W bulb in it so you can place it a bit closer to compensate. According to the IBX instructions on their website, your target temperature is 40 degrees centigrade (a tad warmer than your body). You could check how warm your nails get by placing a thermometer on them under the lamp. This will help you work out how far away your heat source should be for whatever you choose to use.

I like the lamp because it has a clamp to attach it to my nail station and a switch in the cord so I don't have to faff around with plugs in & out.

The instructions are on the IBX website in a downloadable format.

I have a normal table lamp at home (the clip on lamp for work doesn't fit onto my nail table) it has a 40w bulb.
Do you think something like this would be sufficient if like you say I move it nearer? as I've been in a few shops today looking for a 75w or higher bulb to fit my table lamp and can't find one!
It says up to 100w I imagine that's actually quite hot!? If I have my 40w on at home for a few mins the bulb is bloody hot!
Thankyou xx

Louellabelle's Lamp uses a 40W REFLECTOR bulb, hence the smaller wattage. If you choose to buy a normal bulb, then you should buy a 75-100W just as the instructions say. Or get a 40 reflector as Louella sell if you can find one at the shop

Great Thankyou asteropi I'll have a look x
