Blimey - BABTAC won't insure you without they see the certificates, which I think is a very good idea. Otherwise how would they know whether one is telling the truth?

Same thing i ask myself. The insurance company im with are very well known and used by many though x

Hmmm.
Not impressed if that's the case, to be honest!

Can i ask if the course is accredited...i am assuming it is so you can gain insurance...and i stand by what gillian said about "consulting solicitors":!:

Was the course you took a national qualification such as ITEC,VTCT etc:confused:

Well its very important to read the small print with insurance especially with all the people providing private training all over the place.
Chances are when it comes to paying out they wont want to.You could probably guarantee nvq, vtct, itec, cibtac qualifications would be insured by all insurers but not private courses.
When a course says accredited by the guild does that mean only the guild will properly insure it ... i dont know.

Well i assume its accredited its not VCTC or Nvq its diploma of completance

Not impressed with me or the company?
its salon gold x
I would hazard a guess that it's with the insurance company!

TBH, you've left it a bit late if you've got your Creative course and need the certs so desperately.

Why have you left it so late? Why not threaten legal action before now?

Sorry, but I just don't get it.

My insurance company has never asked to see any of my certificates. I too am with Salon Gold. I just phone them up and add any new treatments i am offering and they add me on. Obviously i have done the courses.
Obviously you won't be insured if you haven't done the courses so you'd be daft to just add treatments on without doing them because you wouldn't be insured!
I've always been with salon gold and they are great to deal with and never had any problems with them.

No offence to you violet but why on earth are slon gold insuring someone on their say only???? What if you hadnt had any training .......

I could ring up & say im qualified & get insurance....Thats crazy!

I didnt realise insurance companies did that ..... But im thinking from a clients point of view...I see a certificate, think they are covered, they havnt completed a course, my treatment goes wrong....where does that leave me...?.

I havent left it late hun ive been on at her every other day trying to get these certificates she keeps saying oh they aint ready yet or ill try and get it sorted asap and see if they will be done sunday and get them dropped off or me pick them up.

I have spoke to my CND trainer she said i can post them to her when i get them.
I havent threatended court action as im worried incase i do that and she turns round and says well now your not getting them at all then that leaves me in a worst position.

I really dont know to be honest im just insured with them as long as im covered thats all that matters i dont really go into details with them as to why they dont want to see my certificates etc.

Well if you think about it from the insurance company they get their money every year. How long do any of us pay it every year and never claim mines about 15 years and ongoing ... but come the time when you do want to make a claim they can say oh sorry your qualification isnt insurable and we cant pay out, they win, you and the client lose and do they care no not at all.Thats why there is such a difference in premiums.

Awww wasnt getting at you babe ..... I think its a disgrace that you havent recieved your certs....I would contact trading standards and get some advice...

You say as long as your covered, thats the thing...if something goes wrong and you havent got the proof thats going to leave you in a mess.

Yeah thats true hun :irked: I will actually ring trading standards wednesday cant tommorow or tuesday too busy with course.

And ill see what they say about it - what annoys me most is she new i needed them for my CND course but still doesnt care. x

No Violet not getting at you at all, only the system. Its the same with any insurance. Its a blooming mine field and at the offset they all look as good as eachother until you start to read the small print or come to claim.

How have you been practising as a therapist without certificates to show the insurance company?

I have never had to show my insurance company my certificates either. It's worrying really but they say that I would need to in the event of a claim being made xxx

She doesn't sound fit to be running her own training school if she's going to do this.

Let her know your coming to collect them in person and sounds stupid but dont be all polite sound angry cos ano it's rude n all but if she think's your going to go raging in her training school/salon cos u havn't recieved any certificates well she's gunna get worried cos u'll put other people off and i'm sure she wont want to loose any money etc if this even makes sense..lol

They will ask for them but only in the event of a claim being made against you.
I guess if something did go wrong then it is down to the person not qualified, to pay all the expensive fees xxx

I'm with Salon Gold too. When I was gonna do my warm wax training I emailed them about whether I'd be covered, they replied saying as long as I have the certificate and the treatment is on the list (you can see that on their website) then you're covered.

I kept the reply of course:green:

Firstly, I would actually do a search on the trainer, find out who she is accredited with and who she is insured with.
That way you know if you need to just go camp on her doorstep until you get your certs or if you need to contact trading standards and sue her for misrepresentation and get your money back.
I don't want to panic you hun and it probably is just her being lazy but if it was me I would want to know for sure.
Once you know who she is accredited with, then you can tell her you are coming down in person to collect your certs and if she doesn't have them for you, you will be contacting her accreditation body to complain about her lack of professionalism.
Mean while, don't let it spoil the fun time you are going to have on your cnd course:hug: Chin up hun. In a strange way it's good that you are learning to get tough now, because you will need that when it comes to dealing with some of your clients:lol::hug:

Hi , sometimes trainers don't always have to be accredited to be covered by an insurance company for private courses,
for instance just say if they have many years of experience of Tutoring others in the chosen field
and have been passing valuable experience and skills on in a private course that perhaps was invented by themselves and are highly competent in that particular field,
and have taught many others very well indeed for many years,

or they may hold Teaching or Assesor units and have been teaching a course
and have taught others very well indeed also over many years,

In these cases insurance companys use their own judgement,
and can make an agreement with the Tutor to insure and cover all of his/ her students with an insurance policy
and also insure all the students who pass on private courses,

In this case the tutor will usually let the students know who will be able to insure them for future reference,

hope that made sense :)

Personally,
I think accreditation and teaching is a very good way to go now
especially for in the future,
because this way all students who go on private courses can be easily recognised by all good insurance companys

and Babtac and the Guild are very good in these areas
