Hello I recently booked onto a IBD gel nail course in a few months the issue is I have been using IBD and still have clients in who want to have gel nails prior to my course what should I do

I am fully qualified level 2 & 3 with a CND nail extension qualification also I completed a workshop where I received a certificate in cuccio gel so I am fully aware of how to use gel polish

What should I do?

I know some insurers will be ok with just a manicure certificate to carry out gel polish treatments but it's worth reading up on and researching companies that will suit your needs!

Speak to your insurance company. If you have a gel polish qualification they wont necessarily require you to have one from every manufacturer you intend to use.

Manicure is normally suffice

Is it? My insurance is with the guild I read a lady on here asked them if she needed a gel course and they told her no as long as she has a mani pedi

Panicking haha

Really I would have thought manicure pedicure would have been plenty as i know all the proper procedures

I'm with the guild as well, and they are really helpful if you give them a call. :)

Thank you
I have sent them an email what should I do if I am not covered? I have clients waiting also if I'm not insured I have been working uninsured [emoji19] I have my course booked st earliest day

I needed a gel polish qualification but I can use any brand

If you have an nvq diploma in beauty or nails it will have covered manicure & pedicure.

I have never found an insurance company that requires any further qualifications for coverage for gel polish. A national qualification in gel polish was only introduced last year.

You may see on here that lots of people state their insurance providers want a certificate in every treatment. That is because those affected have done short courses. It's entirely different for those with recognised vocational qualifications.

Obviously though this needs checking with urgency.

I'm insured by Babtac and was told I would only be insured for what was detailed on my college and private course certificates. My query in particular was gel polish. I then did a further course for that.

Education in Scotland is unfamiliar to me. I know that in England a national qualification in gel polish was only launched last year. It wasn't possible to gain an externally assessed qualification in gel polish hence mani pedi modules being what was required for those with nvq diplomas.

This was with a range of providers. But not babtac.

As I have stated she must urgently check with her provider rather than listen to any of us ;)

I contacted my insurance they told me I needed to be shown gel application to be covered I was not shown in my level 2 or 3 as it was around 4 years ago now I did do a cuccio gel workshop where I received a certificate and was shown how to apply gel polish and the pots of gel I am really worried now what should I do iv been doing clients and I have clients in for gel what will happen if I get sued I'm frantically looking for a gel course I can get on sooner that September so worried help x

Did you explain to your insurer about the cuccio certificate?

I would think your cuccio certificate covers you just fine.
It is an add on to your full level 2 & 3 quals

Hello yes I did I am waiting for cuccio to get back to me but they said there words (finding a needle in a hay stack) what should I do if they can't find it

I would rly call The Guild and speak to them, you could ask if you are covered for practising for a course, and have your clients agree to a practise treatment?
