hiya

ive recently started shellac and im fine doing colours but have first french booked in tomorrow!!(have done it on myself), i explained to client that i have a soft french in stock.

i have moonlight and roses and studio white, client normally has bio french with quite white tips....shall i do one layer of moonlight or just go on to studio white after base for a whiter looking tip?

thanks for your help

Do moonlight and roses first, reason being if you need to touch up the smile line with a gel brush you will be swiping the m&r and not the base coat. This is the way I was taught on my course and I've never had a problem when I've done French this way xx

I agree, M&R first so you can tidy up.

I'm on day ten of French on myself, using Studio white, Negligee (one coat) and Mother of Pearl (my favourite combo). So I'm happily optimistic it is going to last the distance.
I used Holly's tip of a very narrow swipe of a gel brush at the sides of the free edge, in order to totally encase with topcoat.

thankyou nicole and stephie,

can i do 2 coats of studio for a whiter tip?just i know she normally has white tips and i dont have time to get cream puff!!

I had to do two, as it didn't give enough coverage with one. I'd be interested to hear how more experienced folks use Studio white.

Yes I use 2 studio White too as it can look patchy with one. I tend to do base, colour coat, 2 x studio White then another colour coat (on myself I always use mother of pearl as 2nd colour coat) then top coat.

just finished! took me a little longer than i thought lol

did one coat of m+r and one of studio white and it looked lovely!!well pleased with myself!!

Lovely!

What's your secret to getting coverage of Studio white with one coat?

i tend to do my white coats a bit thicker no matter what system i use, will see how she gets on with it though and see if i need to do a bit thinner. I did find it went on really nicely though, smile line didnt need much tidying up after xx

just wish id taken a picture!

just had my first french lady back, shellac was still on after 3 weeks just one nail with a bit of damage!!!

i cant believe it....i hadnt even booked her in for soak off as i assumed they wouldnt still be on as she has always had trouble keeping anything on!!!

I have a client that has Studio White tips with Negligee and silver VIP every 2 weeks. She's hooked :D Looks so elegant and not so stark as creme puff, suits her very well as it just looks like she has really healthy clean nails with a bit of shimmer. My fav French combo so far :)

Glad it went well souz, now you can be confident when someone else asks for it. Well done you
