hi all i've read lots of posts on here and would love your opinion, I done a 2 day course back last november done lots of friends and family's nails before i decided to get insurance and go out. did around 5 clients but had 2 complaints and then when i went to give them their money back their nails had been taken off which put me off big time and destroyed my confidence i later found out that a family member that had fallen out with me had gotten people to book with me then complain. I havn't been out since as it really knocked my confidence also at the nail warehouse i went to the gentleman sold me resin as nail glue which i only recently found out as i use l+p i'd not heard of the quick dip system before so i now know why the odd nail was falling off on my friends within 2-3 days.
I am debating if to do a e- file course as usually a set of acrylics takes me roughly and hour and a half and thought maybe by using an e-file it would cut my time down a bit.
also was thinking of doing a contract for the client to sign saying that they are happy with their nails and no refunds will be given if they come off but not sure if that would look bad on me as i'd have to find a new client base any ideas on how to word it to sound professional,

all answers will be greatly appreciated as was thinking of doing the e-file course in january new year new start

hi, where did you do your short course, how good was the training as i've also done short nail courses but now decided to do the nail tech course through evening college as i want to have the full certificate and know i've done it propper.

done my course at the carlton institute it was ok but had to do lots of practice afterwards to get the consistency of the l+p right etc i would of loved to of gone to college to do it maybe an evening course but couldn't find one in my area

If it has been a full year since you have done any L&P and only did a short course then, then I think you would be best to do some more training a One Day refresher course would be good.
This would get you back up to date, and start to build your confidence again.
Then you will be able to get some practise knowing you are doing things correctly, and go on from there.

Resin, is a suitable adhesive to apply tips to a natural nail before applying your L&P overlay so dont worry about that. Also an hour and a half is the standard industry time to do a competent set of enhancements. Therefore I think you would be best to do refresher training rather than an E-File course.

brilliant thank you i will look up refresher courses i've still been doing l+p on my friends and family along with shellac etc also the short course that i done didn't show us how to do infills which i thought was poor value for money so hopefully a refresher course will also show me how to do them too it was a bit disheartning as the course alone cost me around £600 then i bought an ezyflow brush etc so u can imagine how much i spent out then ontop my insurance i paid £75 to be used for 5 paying clients

Ive done a few course with carlton and they say that if you ever need some help or want to go back to the tutor or college you can, gve them a ring and see what they say

Don't beat yourself up in the sense that if you've not had good training, the producing good nails is hard and that's not really something you can blame yourself for.

Move on, cut your losses and find a course that will give you the training that you (and anyone else starting out) would need.

I recommend either going straight to CND or going to college and then converting to CND (or another brand that appeals where you feel assured that they will give you the education you need).

I did some courses with the carlton institute and probably wouldn't again because they feel rushed on the day and then I felt a bit lost at sea afterwards. I'm sure it works for some people learning that way but if you benefit from closer supervision (which lots of us do!) then go elsewhere to train.

Wishing you the best of luck. Oh and regarding the bitchyness, haters gonna hate and all that. Chin up :)

thank you ever so much that makes me feel so much better been looking for evening courses in my area but can't seem to find any but gonna keep looking

I can't really help and you've had some great replies but just wanted to say how disgusting it was of someone to deliberately knock you! They clearly aren't satisfied in their own lives.
Deep breaths and carry on and succeed x

Try looking at NSI training, the educator in my area offers evening courses, possibility there's one in your area that offers one too.
