Hi I wonder if anyone could answer this please?!
I have a client who I've applied semi permanent lashes on for months and she's just found out that she's pregnant. Do you think it's safe to carry on lashing her as she's obviously not allergic to the glue or refuse to do her until the baby is born? She's begging me to carry on but I'm not sure what to do!

What did your trainer say about this at the time?
Maybe refer to your supplier then contact your insurance to see what they say and go with what your insurance provider says, if it was ok with supplier & training they usually go with that answer.
1st trimester is the part they shouldn't have most things done but also remember that lying down flat is also an issue and you have to incline them slightly and support the back, and may have to take breaks from lying down depending on how far along they are...
Sorry No definite answer for you but best to check with those first - better safe than sorry ..!!!

Thanks, I've got to be honest I trained 6 years ago and pregnancy was a contraindication but I'm using products from a different provider now. The girl in question had had her lashes infilled twice without knowing she was pregnant too. I've heard most techs say the reason you can't have lashes done is in case of allergic reaction to glue and the antidote could be dangerous to baby?
I will check with my insurers thanks for replying x

Check with insurance but as far as I know, the main problem is lying flat, especially as they start to get bigger!

I've done my eyelash extensions training while I was pregnant and have done them on myself ever since. My tutor has not mentioned anything about the risks of using the eyelash glue during pregnancy and luckily I've never had any problems with it during my pregnancy. I've also applied a set to my newly pregnant friend a while ago and she was fine, too.

I would tell your client about the risks of having them done whilst pregnant and let her decide. Most pregnant ladies will avoid anything that could risk their unborn babies. But if she decides to go ahead make her sign a document stating that you've told her about the risks and she was happy to have the treatment done anyway, just so that you're on the safe side.

Hth x

The real risk is that if she reacts (and pregnancy can make you more susceptible) she will not be able to have the medication needed to counteract the reaction.

She needs to know that before proceeding, and as a therapist you need to ask yourself if you want to take that risk.

Could be develop an allergy even though she has never had one previously? She's had lashes on for months now. I done her lashes 3 weeks ago and 3 weeks before that and she at that time didn't know she was expecting. I've told her I can't do her due to her being pregnant ( and the medication thing) but she says she's obviously not allergic to the products and is begging me to do them!! Xx

Yes she could most definitely. Pregnancy increases your risk of a reaction happening and as the pregnancy develops the risk gets greater (it's to do with hormone changes).

Thank you xxx

Is this the same with tinting then?
Would you avoid even if she's had a patch test
