Hi, I had a client in today who was asking me about liver spots, she asked me was there any product that gets rid of them. I wasn't sure so I thought maybe someone on here would be able to answer my question. I thought that they were just part of the ageing process.

I just read a post somewhere from Kimmi about her trying to get rid of her liver spots (soz Kim), it didn't work.... it's just part of the ageing process and we can't reverse it.

Personally, I don't find them offensive (maybe 'till I get some), they're just like big freckles...adds a bit of character.

Also - maintain a healthy balanced diet with plenty of natural anti oxidants, vitamins such as A, C and E to defend you body from free readicals that damage healthy cells - the co enzyme Q10 is a potent anti oxidant. Eat fish & salads & avoid carbohydrates.

They do sample sachets. A 60ml tube is about a tenner. Hyperpigmentation is one of those things that take time to sort out, if it is very deep rooted it may not get rid of it all together, and if it's genetic then there is nothing you can do. I'll try and remember to bring a couple of samples on Friday.

oooooooooo thanks mate !! you're soooooooo knowledgable

Hi David,

If you'd like my home remedy for liver spots, read my post in 'Ouch my head hurts' by Creative Tech. xxxxxxxx

Hi David, another name for liver spots is 'chloasma' (chloasmata)

you are right it is associated with older skins (v common after 40) but can often occur in pregnancy (usually disappears after the baby is born) and also as a result of taking the contraceptive pill (as the female hormone oestrogen is thought to stimulate melanin production) and with exposure to the sun, UV light. It is mostly seen on areas of highest sun exposure i.e the face, shoulders, forearms and hands. It is harmless and painless but can occasionally mask the diagnosis of skin cancer.

A barrier cream or total sun block will reduce the risk of the patches (light brown to dark brown) increasing in number and size. xxx
