I can't get hold of the redken EQ shade. I've seen them on Ebay but not the silver and platinum shades I would need.

I think her hair is going to turn grey/silver no matter what toner I put on. It's so porous so soaks up the base colours. Ive seen alot of young girls with the silver colour but I was hoping for a light blonde with a silver tone to it. I might try bleach + 10vol and add a bit P01 colour, it might work a bit better. I'm just running out of ideas :(

What about sectioning off and protecting a few of those white pieces in foils ....especially around the face and the top of the crown area ...

then go for the toner you really want to target those yellow parts ?

Those few lighter lighter pieces wrapped in the foils will help take any edge of the toner looking too dark,
and at least the toner will last longer her longer
plus its a process you can repeat without it looking too drastic
Your call :) lol x minky

Ive just done 2 test pieces with Luo Colour P01. I washed one after 5 minutes and the other after 10 minutes. Both turned out silver, no white blonde at all. I don't think my client would like/suit a full head silver :suprised:

What to do next :(

thats a shame, i love p01, well the next thing i would suggest is Fudge paintbox, a whiter shade of pale, it contains no peroxide so wont cause any damage and it will slowly wash out, you can get it from capital online or ebay, i really like this product and its perfect for overbleached hair hope this helps x

Hi Minky we decided to try a bleach bath, I washed it through her hair for 5 minutes and it has lifted the yellow so it is a bit paler but still yellowy. The creamy colour has gone a tiny bit ashy as the bleach I used has an inbuilt silver toner. It does look a bit better but still needs toning when we find the right one. So far I have tried Proclere Herbal Toner, Wella Koleston 10/16 + Pastel & Luo Color P01 + Releaser. I think I might try the colour fresh 0/6 but I'm thinking how long it will last on her porous hair and if it will turn violet/ashy. x

Hi Greg, Have you ever mixed the P01 with another pastel shade (P0, P02 etc)? This is the first time I have used L'oreal so not familiar with their shades. If I mixed with either of those shades it might not turn as grey/silver but I'm not sure what P0 or P02 is, I think they were a bit dark on the colour chart if I remember correctly x

Hi Dreamlover, did you weave some of the white peices out and protect them first in foils before you did the bleach bath ?

I would also reccomend the same method when you are toning
so you can protect those over processed white pieces again :) minky

Hi, I just washed the bleach through the mid length and ends of the hair where it is mostly yellow and protected what I could with conditioner. The yellowy hair is blending in alot better with the creamy pieces so now it looks a very pale yellow/creamy colour. I just need to find a toner that wont turn her hair grey. I'm thinking my original choice might have been the best idea (koleston 10/0 + 10/1). Do you think the wella colour fresh 0/6 would turn her hair violet or grey, or maybe even wash out in one wash? x

dont tone with majirel you wont get a full silver result plus it will burn the clients scalp and has a very strong smell. use richesse 9.01 or luo p01 or 10.12 or 10.21. but you need to make sure you bring it down to a pale yellow undercoat inorder to get a perfect result and for it to last longer and not wash out

The only way you could tone with 0/6 silver colour fresh is to protect those white bits in foils .... or it will get Violet hues on the whiter parts .

Its going to be tricky foiling the lighter hair as it is so patchy and inbetween. I wouldnt say it was white, its a creamy colour so its at the right level to tone. Each time I have done test pieces the yellowy hair has grabbed the base colours which is making it hard to correct. I think I need a natural colour mixed with a little ash. The luo colour is mixed with 25vol, maybe I could try 10vol or pastel to see if it works a bit better. If that doesnt work then I might suggest going a few shades darker as it is so hard to correct this colour without it grabbing and turning grey. x

Hi Greg said:
I haven't mixed them before but im sure they can be mixed and without the colour chart in-front of me i cant remember the shades of p0 and p02 i think p02 is pearl though, are you using the loreal luo developer with it or are you mixing it with a different peroxide ?

I mixed P01 with the correct Luo Color Releaser. The developer is 25vol so I done a strand test today with 10vol and it still went grey despite only being left on around 3 - 5 minutes. It was not as grey as the other turned out but still an unattractive colour, the other was a dark looking grey. I really don't know what I can do. The hair is just soaking up the base colours but it's an ash shade I need to neutralize the pale yellow. The creamy bonde colour also needs to be toned but that too soaks up the base colours :(

I will try get a photo tomorrow so you's can see what colour I'm having a nightmare with :)

heyy guys!! i did a search and found this thread and im hoping you can help me!!! pretty please!!!!! I used loreal in my first year of my apprenticeship but havent used the luo for toning in years...im very familiar with the richesse and other ranges, but i was just wondering if i would be okay toning a clients hair with the luo P01 with the 25vol developer?! and if i would be better off applying to wet or dry hair!!

any feedback would be AMAZING!!! :) xxx

I don't think there is shade /86 in colour fresh. Can someone with a shade chart pease confirm this.

/86 is available in Colour Touch - Relights and is for toning bleached hair. I was going to try this shade but after looking at the colour chart in the wholesalers it looked a bit pinky so I decided on the Luo Colour P01 x

Yes there is i use it on my hair inbetween colour.. Also koleston perfect 12/81 will give a lilacy silver blonde or loreal luo colur p01 with a smidge of p10 for a bluey silver.. Or even a crazy colour. Trust me i have had silver hair for about 3 years now and know every colour combination for the best result. If you just want it white with no lilac/blue hint then just try po1 on its own

I used po1 luo alot and think it's a lovely colour on top of bleach.. Never goes silver or grey.. We use it with the richesse lotion. You've also got your milkshake shades in richesse which are great for toning too..
