I'm taking the plunge this week and switching to matrix, I will be getting the start up kit for so.colour, colour sync, design pulse & biolage..I get to choose 20 tubes of tint per colour range, but as I've not had any of their colour training yet I'm stuck with what to choose..do any of you matrix users recommend any popular colours??also with the biolage what are your favourites? I won't be stocking all of it as I'm just a home salon, but I specialise in extensions and as I use a few diff hair suppliers I don't stick with one particular suppliers aftercare,i am looking to use biolage for this. Any advice would be great, thanks

Colour wise 5 m 6m 5mg 6 mg 4bc 5bc 10av 8av A range N range a maybe a couple of dream.age as for biolage Defo get thermo active repair gloss, hydrating balm hydrating shampoo, fortetherapie,

I think every area is different with how much people go thru. In my area, its more of the dual voltage reds, mochas, mocha golds and the reflect shades. The dream ages are very popular. The very rare ones i dont think we go thru is copper and gg.

I had the sobeauty welcome kit, which at that time allowed all the colours, 94 and free training, handbook etc. The coloursync was 47 shades of your choice. (but this was about 4 years ago.)

Id take my time and build up slowly if thats what your looking to do, and get colourgraphics or v light. xoxo

Thanks, I'm guessing the m stands for mocha, g for gold, a for ash, v for violet, n for neutral(is that just a base shade?) what does b & c stand for??
I'm so worried about not understanding what the colours contain, I feel like I've just got to a stage with majirel were I know what to expect with no suprises..just hope I pick this up quickly

Really simple and easy! You've picked it up already, N is neutral which is green, if you pm me your email I'll forward you some colour knowledge. Mochas are amazing they contain, orange, gold, red, violet :) if used on blonde they look mainly colour so use NW or WN in with it, Bc is brown copper, gorgeous shades again, x

Thanks for your advice, I'm just getting the small starter kits to get me up & running, they inc colour charts, posters, developers & training but you only get 20 tubes..still great value for £99. I've just got the vlights after great reviews on here, and will hopefully add graphics later in the year. What do you use for toners??

Nothing if u use graphics. Or sheer pastels range in sync, with sync if you want a base 5 use a 6 it's one shade darker, and if you leave sync on 10mins longer than development it goes a full shade darker again! X

Hi vix, I went on the matrix website found the supplier who covers my area and went to see him..I got the impression these were new start up deals directly from matrix, so will be available with all the matrix suppliers. They're only allowed to cover their area tho so you'll need to find out who yours is x

Hi Bluerinse
Would you be able to send me some knowledge too please. I'm pretty much in the same boat and thinking of switching from Wella to Matrix? Although I don't know how to pm on this yet?

Can I just call you out on this a bit Bluerinse?

You say that N is neutral (which is green) but my understanding of Matrix colour is that N can be many tones from green to violet, depending on the level chosen. For instance, 9N contains violet rather than green.

Or is are you saying that Matrix use a green base (rather than a blue base) for their colour?

Confused about this.

I was always told no matter what level they all cancel out red as they contain green. But their pre mixed bases are truly magic as you say as it goes lighter it neutralises those tones too! I'm gonna be a geek and find out now what makes the pre mixed bases do damn clever!
