Ive been doing makeup 2 years now and what i cant seem to fathom is every teenager on the globe wanting to become a makeup artist? Every job interview i go to they tell me how many girls that apply and how there are FAR too many makeup artists out there. The only way i can even get clientele is by going freelance or booth renting a chair in a salon i dont understand this craze and its making makeup artists who are really into makeup look bad i blame all these beauty videos on youtube theres a million beauty girls on youtube and every young girl seems to be jumping on the MUA bandwagon there isn't enough jobs for us all there really isnt not with every second girl doing makeup today

You were once one of those teenagers who wanted to get into makeup, likely makeup artists before you who thought the same but luckily you succeeded.
It is like this in most beauty professions; people think it is easy, there is cheap training available and it's a quick money making scheme for a while.

However, if you're good enough and better than everyone else out there then you will still succeed and still get clients coming to you. Anyone can do makeup, nails, hair etc. but it's the outcome and the lasting results that people actually listen to which will ultimately fade out those 'jumping on the bandwagon'.

:);)

Me and my friend joke about this. For me, it's not the fact they want to get in to the industry, I'm all for that! It's the fact they are all suddenly "MUA's".

There's taking an interest in a career and working towards it, and then there's overselling your skills and promoting yourself as something your are not.

But then again, if people are willing to pay whatever these "MUA's" are charging then fair play to them.

Yeah sure ive no problem helping a girl who wants to get into makeup who is really passionate but i think its ridiculous the amount of them out there today it was hairdressing 5 minutes ago now its makeup ha. Dont get me wrong there are a lot of girls who do a decent enough job but Im going to be honest it took me over a year to build up the confidence and clientele after getting qualified i hardly got any clients i advertised but there was over 3000 muas advertising their buisness so it was very difficult starting out finding money for my kit only wanting to use high end makeup and worrying i hadnt enough as a proper makeup artist. people that go house to house charge little or nothing like 20 quid and in salons its around 45-50 quid for a makeup so its extremely hard to suceed in makeup with the amount of girls looking for the same job my country is fairly small and jobs are limited enough. Its like starbucks one every second shop on the street. The industry itself has gotten popular this year so jobs are very very rare and there is nothing worse then having to let go of your dream because it isnt working out.
