Matrix 'Mocha' tone

Hi, I'm just getting into Matrix Can someone advise using the Mocha tones ie 8m. I've found that the tone comes up a bit bright and pinky. We used it today with a Matrix trainer who advised this was the colour to use to achieve a beige tone. It looked dreadful. luckily it wasn't on my model! Maybe it would have been better mixed with a base colour?

What was on the hair previous? I would use it for beige!

The clients hair had been lifted with I think Wella 12. Her natural base was about a 7 to 8 with 40% grey

I've used it twice I used 5m in so colour and it was awful a translucent purpley colour? I used both 3 and 6 % It was over highlites. Our rep said the m's are really poplar so wish I new where I went wrong? I've been scared to use it again I go for the w or nw range now which are beautiful.

If going over blonde pre lightened you need to use Wn in with it, do the violet won't grab.

I feel nervous of this tone too. I used a 507g today with colour graphics grape violet pigment highlights and it came out gorgeous. Hopefully Bluerinse will have the answer

I thought it should have had another colour mixed with it. The wn shade makes sense. I'm a little suprised that the Matrix guy got this wrong. Thanks for your help Bluerinse. It's because of your love of Matrix I've started on their training x

Your very welcome! Feel free to pm me anytime if you get a problem or even question, just remember if over blonde use Wn and M sync is always a good voice for this but obviously if only socolor is available.

I'm using 5m on a client next week she's got highlights and her natural base around a 6 through her hair she wants 5m all over so do I mix a wn with it too, I'm to scared to use any colours in matrix I've had them about 1month and I'm still using my igora instead as I used a 5n on a lady and it was awful so I'm scared to use any now, my introductory course got cancelled about 3weeks ago and they still havnt got a new date for the course yet. Xxx

Ok for this use 6wn and 6m is sync or 5wn and 5m socolor 40ml mocha 20ml WN with 10vol

Really do t be scared, their bases are true to shade which is why their do dark on based .

Yes one shade lighter

I ordered a few tubes today to try i, I didnt want to get rid of all my igora at 1st think its like my comfort blanket lol .
The colours for covering 50% or more grey do you use 30vol with it the same as igora ? and do you mix base with most of the colours ?
They did offer to do in house training for 3 or more but i work myself

Dream.age you only use 20vol pick any shade mix equal parts with 20vol. And apply, leave to develop

And no you don't need to add base they all have pre mixed auto adjust Toning bases, when you get the shade chart its easier to explain x

Yeah I've bout about 40 tubes and still worried to use them, I got one start up pack with peroxides and about 18 colours and mini shade chart which I wasn't impressed with as they didn't tell me it was a mini one when the rep was ordering it for me xxx

Oh I got large one :s guess diff suppliers do different but really don't be scared him, matrix is really easy, true to swatch and predictable results, what you see is what you get

Ok bluerinse, the mini chart hasnt got all the colours on either and doesn't tell you any information about the colours on the back like igora does so that doesn't help. Just wish they would hurry up with sorting a date out for introductory course so I can just get rid of the igora altogether. Xxx
