I'm wondering that too because vinylux dries so fast it might dry up before you've mixed and applied to all nails, certainly by a 2nd or 3rd coat?

I did try this mixing thing years ago with maniQ (the instructions were direct from young nails) and whilst it did work and lasted well on nails, just like their coloured maniQ really, it was a faff and you did get wastage as the made up mix wouldn't keep as it would harden (as the solvents evaporated I presume?)

I'm wondering if you mix with just pure glitter though whether that could be stored a while? I think I may buy a pot (prefer a pot not a bottle) to test out with glitter.
works and mixes with glitter absolutely perfectly my test salon in the local village bought a couple of pots and as she used them up she saved them and now has about 20 all pre mixed with glitter, my advice is to mix as you go to avoid waste and to keep it all fresh and is essential with polish but silver glitter red glitter the go to colours are perfect pre mixed and ready to roll.

maniq from young nails was similar( though more expensive) but it was at a time when gel polish was not at the same place it is now, and it did seem like a lot of messing about, but as we ride the wave of gel polish clients want ever more increasing range of colours and textures and finishes so this just enables you to vary that range of colours and extend it by adding a polish mix over a gel mix or glitter or fade.
It is and can be a faf ( as are all nails i mean minx what was that about with the lamp and the heat and the streching and the heat and the trimming only to peel off 3 days later !!!!!! ) if you get into the swing of it its not hard just takes a little bit of trial and error and patience.

And the results are fab so worth that little bit of extra effort :)

thanks for the feedback on the pots i guess it's just peoples choice of how they like to work i used the pot all the time until i had the bottle now I'm loving the bottle

I'm loving it all because I made it and I'm loving that you are all so excited and having such fun with it :)

Ooh poor you! What base and topcoat did you use with it can I ask?

Hope the poorly thumb heals quick :(

Gelish. Thank you. It's still throbbing.:cry::cry:

I haven't tried mixing with anything yet as I'm still at college and can't have anything on my nails  But I have tried it out on my daughter, she isn't allowed polish or extensions at work but was desperate to have nice nails again. I put her some natural tips on, they are only short just to the end of her fingers and used 2 layers of the mega mix gel. She has had them on a week now with no problems, they even passed a hand inspection she had at work as "natural nails" :wink2:

sorry that was a typo want it to be called not tit ! ha ha

I guessed that!

How about "Infinite" as in having endless options to mix with.

"Infinity"

"Custom-made" or "Su Misura" (custom-made in Italian)

Ch-ela, we are clearly classy ladies 😌

Hi,
I am extremely interested in this product. I have such a huge collection of my gel range (Calgel) it costs an absolute fortune to keep every gel in stock. My polish range is OPI and we are constantly being asked for a polish to match their Calgel so they can do their toes so this sounds perfect. My concerns are... Will this perform as well as Calgel? What happens when the client comes back in 2-3 weeks for a maintenance? Does this all have to be removed and completely re done as in soaked off and new extensions re applied? Or can this product be re balanced with the same colour or a darker colour after buffing down the gel?
At present there are no vat charges on your product. When you do become vat registered will this be added to the cost of the gel? Just trying to work out if it will end up being cost affective once you buy the whole kit considering the size of the pots? Also is 15gms the maximum size pot you do? Do you do the base and top gel in a pot or just bottle? What size are these? Do you get much wastage at the bottom of a bottle as you can't always get to the bottom of a polish style bottle and I find we always waste the bottom section of our polishes. Which led lamp would you recommend with this system? Sorry for all the questions but I have been using Calgel for 9 years now and if I was to change systems I need to know a little more about the product.
Thanks

Thank you for your interest and as you say this products sounds perfect. I have used calgell before but was more a biosculpture user ( which is almost identical) and love biosculpture just don't love the price so and this was developed with that in mind, it has the same kind of properties as biosculpture clear gel without being yellow ( or being able to go direct onto the nail)

you can rebalance this product or remove it completely ( soaks off really well and quickly) its up to you how you work, if your going to infill you will have to be carefull of your colour selections alternatively provided you have enough structure underneath you can take the nail back by buffing down to the clear gel each time.

even if you still use your current system and incorporate this in to it ( like clear galgel) for added strength then you are saving

the current price is an introductory price and when i become vat registered that will have to be added, but i intend to maintain a competative edge on price as this product comes direct from the manufaturer with the savings being passed on directly to the nail tec :)

It has only been on general sale since January and currently base and top are only available in a bottle, moving forward bulk pots 25g may be considered if that is what people want or perhaps a sale of buy 10 get 1 free etc but as i suggested in previous post this is sooooooooooo cheap as it is and such a great product. Its great value for money even with vat addedcompared to what else is out there and available on the market :) calgell biosculpture etc all bottles and pots are currently 15ml .5 oz and i don't think you waste hardly any, i understand what you mean when you get to the bottom of a bottle but you can just turn that out onto a foil if need be :) but you will get loads of sets before that needs to happens :)

I use either a 6g led or an 18 g/k led ( similar to the gelish ones) and find them great.

hope that cover's the questions and please feel free to ask more

Hi Martin,

Sorry if this question has been answered already - I have a couple of colours in VINYLUX that aren't available in Shellac...can I add VINYLUX to megamix?

:)

Hiya he said a bit earlier in the thread that it's fine to mix with vinylux. X

works really well with vinyux because it is so heavily pigmented, for best results mix as you go 3 drops gel 3 drops polish and apply then mix a bit more :)

There you go mrs grey ;)

Thank you so much for your advice...
Have taken the plunge and ordered some!!
Very excited will keep you all posted on our results.
Can I also ask?? With our Calgel system for French Polish we put a base layer of pink/clear then we paint a French with our OPI polish alpine snow, tidy the French then apply another coat of Calgel to seal it in. Is this possible to do with megamix??

Martin I used the base, 2 layers of megamix and then the amaze glaze. Then I gave them a slight buff over to remove the shine :)

French is always a tricky one, i don't like it so always try to talk the clients out of it, ten years of painting white edges i got board and gave up !!!!

With any gel system getting the white right is the hardest thing to do because it has to be so heavily pigmented in order to be bright white and then in being so, is hard for the light to penetrate and get a good cure, it's on the free edge so it's subject to wear and when you cover it with gel, your fighting against yellowing :(

my best advice is to give it a try, I'm not a fan of layering regular polish between gel but if your making it work with your existing gel system then it should work with the megamix you just need to ensure that the polish is dry and that the product is all sealed in.

My preference would be to use a white gel polish, and in megamix style there is no reason why you cant mix your alpine snow polish with megamix to create your white gel polish, i know alpine snow goes thick really quickly so that may work to your advantage to slightly water it down.

I tried loads of polishes from loads of companies but have to be honest and say i did not try a french, I did consider it and got samples of white gel polish manufactured but, in an attempt to get megamix to market, it was put on the back burner for consideration perhaps in faze 2.

I will be interested and excited to see how you get on, and look forward to your feedback, but as i say you don't have to change everything so do what your doing for french and maybe add a little extra megamix over the top for strength and longevity, and keep it up your sleeve for cheap glitter mixes and colour matching regular polish toes ( cos they last forever anyway) with gel mixed with megamix gel polish fingers :)

Thats great, just didn't know if you had put megamix directly onto the nail? It does stick but the base does stick better.
Sounds like you did a good job, its not a strong gel, it's more flexible, and the fact that it is not hard makes it easier to soak off because it's easy for the solvents to penetrate, but its great and has just enough strength for a little short sporty extension as you have demonstrated.
keep me posted :)

Sorry more questions... I'm a bit concerned that lots of people's opinions about gel systems and the lamp are that they should be matching brands. I know you don't sell your own lamp but How will I know that my uv or led lamp is compatible? I currently have a daylight 36watt uv lamp but would like to cut down curing times so tempted to buy a led one. What should I be looking for in a led lamp if I was to buy one?
Also when applying this gel how many fingers can be painted and set together? Reason I ask is Calgel shrinks sometimes on the nail plate before curing so I tend to have to set one at a time continuously swapping hands until they all have the desired layers. Basically what I want to know is does this product shrink back prior to setting?
