Ok everyone I have received my order today and couldn't wait to try it out. I just did an overlay of my own nails so no extensions. I used it with one one my OPI polishes. I used a pea sized bit of gel and added 3 large drops of polish. This was enough for one coat on 8 fingers, I then re made some more for my second layer. And the the same again for my thumbs. I was using a UV lamp so curing each layer for 2 mins as I haven't got an led lamp yet. The base and top layer i cured all 4 fingers at the same time then thumbs separately but for the mixed colour I painted just one nail at a time and kept continuously swapping until the nails all had two coats. The finish on the nails looks fab. It's not to thick or too thin and has a high shine. The only thing I would say is as the product gets the air to it it does slightly start to dry a little bit creating a bit of a skin so we only made a little bit at a time and tried to keep it all scooped together on a piece of foil and tried not to let it run all over the foil so it didn't dry out so much.
Obviously it was my first try and I was worried about using too much polish and it not curing properly but think I should have done one more drop of polish as I'm not sure the colour was as solid as it should have been. I painted someone else's nail with the same polish on her natural nails after I had mine done and theirs did come out a shade darker than mine. The reason I really want this product to work in my salon is so I can use more of my OPI varnishes and have perfect matches for my pedicures. So if I can add a tiny bit more colour and achieve this I will be over the moon.
I am going to try this product on nail extensions as soon as I can and I will also try out the French sandwich and a maintenance/rebalance and let you all know how the product fairs up.

have you tried mix on other surfaces rather then foil like

silicone

a small tile

flit/marble/granite/

plastic pots

Hi Katie,
No I haven't would you say that these would be better? I do find sometime that's the foil tears if you try and scrape the gel together.
Thanks

One of my Gelish clients today admired me nails and said "I want that one!" Unfortunately I didn't bring my polishes with me, just my Gelish but I was wearing an OPI with Megamix. I told her I'll do it for her next time. :). Her nails in 2 weeks will already pay for my Megamix bottle!

one bottle everything else opens it up a lot really... mobile manicure guess what you are your a ....? your a megamixer xx

I've been called worse. ;)

Virginia usually calls me a stirrer, not a mixer!

I got my gel in the post today (lots of glitters too) so I will have a play at the weekend.

I use a glass tile for my nail art with gels. I find this works best.

I am sure this gel will be fab, but I do wonder about the removal. Hope it's good too.

Hi Sass,
I find ur research very interesting and was just looking at your findings! Am I correct in thinking that the second one is a stronger lamp than the gelish lamp! This is amazing.
I have purchased my mega mix already but not had a chance to play with it yet. I am finished my training tomorrow and plan to try a few things D)

Hi Dottie, yes you are correct...the Gelish Lamp is 2watt output and the generic is 3w output :)

Megamix - where you been all my life!!! Xx
I'm loving it :) and it's lasting very well indeed :)

Got my megamix today can't wait to have a play!!!

Yay just got mine too 😃

What's the removal like?

I'm loving that you are loving it :)

Got a few questions to answer, promise I will get to them.

In the meantime just keep mixing

Glad to hear you liked it.

working quickly and mixing as you go is the secret :)

if you use polish ( especially fast dry) the minuet it is exposed to the air it wants to start to dry ( and skin)

working in a dappen dish ( rather than a flat surface helps to minimize this) less surface area means less exposure.

As you say it was your first attempt and you can always mix in a little more polish next time, or do a third coat ( just takes a while when your using uv)

Curing one nail at a time is a great way to prevent product shrinking but megamix is not too bad so maybe to speed up a little work 2 nails at a time or do your first coat ( thin) of megamix on all 4 nails the same way you did the base coat quickly and then take more care on the second coat doing nails individually :)

I look forward to seeing what you come up with and looks like you are going to really stretch the product to it's limits :)

remember when you create a mix with polish that this is only a finish ( the same as shellac or gelish) you cannot build with a mix

just wonder when you say you are going to try it on extensions do you mean create a mix and put it over acrylic? or create a tip and overlay using megamix?

you can create an extension with megamix but it is a very soft gel so i would only recommend a short sports length tip :)

to build and add strength you need to use the megamix in it's raw state.

keep mixing

katie
some great suggestions there, I know with lashes for example they use marble or jade as it is cold and prevents evaporation of the glue so it lasts longer.

However I think the thing to consider here is surface area, if the gel and polish mix is spread all over a flat surface it will easily skin up, if it is in a pot ( like a glass dappen dish) then there is less exposure to the air.

keep your mix tight not spread :)

but look forward to seeing what you all come up with, totally open to suggestions on finding the perfect mix :)

love it

that was my absolute intention that with this one little pot you can do loads

It's not meant to replace your entire range of what you are using now more to compliment it, by adding a bit of a mix into your existing service you have the opportunity to mix it up and just create different looks and finishes using all sorts of nail art media.

if you imagine massage therapist use almond oil as a carrier for their essential oils when doing aromatherapy massage

megamix is a carrier for your nail art transporting it onto the nail and when cured fixing it in place ( permanently) giving you a great finish and look and extended wear :)

removal is really easy, obviously the more you apply the thicker it is the longer it will take to remove ! so if its thick give it a buff over with a strong abrasive jsut to remove some bulk

but it is a very soft gel and the acetone or solvent you use to remove it easily penetrates through so does remove easily.

and even though it is a soft gel it is really hard wearing :)

let me know how you get on

I'm here now !!!

Good to hear it's wearing well :)

There is no reason why it shouldn't provided it is applied correctly. and basically that means anyway you want to apply it !!!!!

It's a soft gel but hard wearing.

and more often than not when you start using it you will find the clients come back because they want a change not because they need their nails done !!!!!

If you use it over or under your existing service gelish, shellac, colour gloss etc, doing exactly as you would normally do but adding one or two additional coat of clear megamix the added bit of strength turns your gel polish system into a power gel polish bridging the gap between gel polish and extensions ( especially the clients with slightly longer nails that have had the benefit of a growth spurt form wearing gel polish and need a little more strength but without the bulk or a real gel extension or acrylic.

and because of it's generic style it will easily fit in with your existing system without compromise or service breakdown :)

and you don't even have to put that extra coat on all fingers maybe just on first finger and thumb ( the ones that get all the abuse)

just mix it up a little !!!!!!!
