i did my minx training about 3 weeks ago and despite my efforts to all but give away the first few, have only just done my first last week and second this morning!

Last weeks lady has let me know hers are peeling away from the free edge.
Her nails were not long enough to do the 90 degree angle thing with the crystal file ...is this the cause?

Should I decline clients whose nails do not hang off the top of their toes ? The trouble is, not many folk let their nails get all that long.

So bearing this in mind, when today's lady arrived with similar length toes, I insisted on doing a Shellac topcoat to seal the free edge.

Was this the right thing to do? Any tips? xx

OOh forgt to say I have invited the first lady back in to rectify any peelers and apply SHellac top coat to hers, am waiting to hear back.

anyone?

and yes I did the Minx training with CND and use all genuine products all from S2, and have done Shellac training too

Hope someone can help : )

I do a shellac top coat if they are going abroad, but normally it doesn't need that. Minx last for ages on the toes lol they come back and have grown so much they look like a French lol. If you have any touching skin they will lift or if you have creased them and then the water can get underneath xxx

I never file the toes especially as you said no free edge . I always use small nail scissors (at a 45o angle) to cut off the excess and adding a top coat defeats the object of having that lovely original minx finish. Hope this helps 😄

Defo shouldn't have come off that quick.. It is on toes right?
Did you properly scrubfresh, did you over stretch the edge, we're the minx heated enough, did you leave any bits hanging off the nail (not cut close enough).
When I have clients with really short toe nails I just cut but make sure it's really close.. Sometimes I cut a tiny bit of nail with I to make sure it's really flush x

Yes to all those things, I did a good cuticle remove as well before scrubfreshing....as far as I can recall I did do all those things and they looked great and very neat, I felt quite confident

She hasn't got back to me but I know they've had bad news in the family so it's probably the least of her worries tbh :( but I want to put it right for her if I can. Really wish I knew what I'd done wrong.

Interesting that he 90 degree thing with the crystal file isn't absolutely necessary, good news for those toes.

I find the best way to make sure that the free edge is sealed is to trim the wraps with a clippers. If you can cut a teeny bit of nail with it then great but if not just clip as close to the nail as you can.

The clipping squeezes the wrap and nail together giving a lovely tight seal.

When I do Minx toes they stay on for ages & ages (6 weeks +).

I have heard (i think i read it on here) that Ugg boots can cause them to peel, might be worth checking if she wears uggs? On the other hand I have clients who have worn uggs with no problems xx

... Or tight shoes? Thinking of it now I've known someone who's minx crinkled and peeled back because her heels were forcing her toes downwards in the tight shoe .

I wear Ugg boots all winter myself and never have problems with my own Minx. I've also had clients who put their Uggs on immediately after the service and its not caused a problem. I never put a topcoat of anything on them and they always last for weeks and weeks.

I think the problem is probably with your prep. You say you did a good cuticle remove. Did you use a product for this and did you then fully rinse it off? Personally I always do a completely dry prep plus a dehydrator before Minx or Kooky application.

As for you saying that you haven't had much client response yet. Its still early, most of us are still in Uggs/trainers or shoes. As soon as it gets a bit warmer, put it on your own flip-flopped toes and they will all be asking for it.

I find that one of the problems with Minx is that however you display it, it never looks as good as it actually does on toes. Your best advertisement for it is therefore your own toes.

Assuming that you did everything well, I would say the client is wearing shoes without any socks or hosiery and that the shoes are rubbing against her Minxed toes in a way that is lifting them and causing them to peel. It can and does happen of course if toes are rubbing this is going to happen.

I would use this opportunity to have another go but tell the client you can't be responsible another time for what her shoes are doing.
