Hi guys fab thread, I took some advice and I have emailed some hotels and b&bs that have no therapists. However I think my letter is not very good :irked: I am useless. I want to send more tomorrow and to wedding shops etc but was wondering if someone could help me word my letter better. Below is what I have sent already

My name is Emma and I have started a company called .......
I am looking at promoting my business and trying to get into B&BS and Hotels that don’t currently have a beauty therapist.
I currently do Gelicure nails, Extensions, Spray Tanning, Air-brush Make up (great for a night out) and waxing.
I am looking at promoting my work within establishments like yourselves for the tourist's, business people.
I was thinking if we could work together with me advertising at your establishment i.e. business cards, Leaflets and promotions and whatever clients I get giving you a 10% cut.
If I advertised and people who are currently staying have asked me to come to your establishment which I do mobile and home based it could work out financially for both of us.
If this is something you would like to think about or discuss further with me please contact me on

I am fully qualified and hold all certificates and I am fully insured. I know this may seem an unusual request however I am looking to promote my business and to gain a rapport with clients and the people I work with. Great also for wedding opportunity's.

Kind Regards

Hi missbad, letter looks good and I think you have a good idea there. Just make sure you correct your spelling of "opportunities" at the end.

Opps and I spell checked :Scared:

I was thinking off sending out a letter also to bridal shops however I cant for the life of me think what incentive I can give them. If anyone can help with that one I would be so pleased. Thanks X

You could offer them perhaps 25-50% off their nails (even free if you're feeling really generous) and then the ladies coming in to buy the dresses may ask. You can say to mention that they have a wonderful therapist they recommend -que nail display lol- and give them your card. Hth x

P.s. I also think you can mention that being in the bridal industry they have to look imaculate at all times and sometimes can be the difference between a sale and not. Having their nails done can help encourage sales as they look much more 'well presented'. Idk if you'd actually want to say this to them but it's something to think about!

I made these little packages for clients! I have gave a few away and they seem to love them!

I have also done a massive leaflet drop of them in the local area and have had huge response from them! I think it catches peoples eye and is a little different maybe!

What a lovely idea!
If your skincare supplier offers samples you could could always put a sample of something in there instead!

I'm offering a skin consultation and a complimentary cleanse, tone and moisturise with my new skincare range to new and existing clients with a £5 voucher towards the cost of a facial.

Gives me the chance to raise some brand awareness and promote facials to clients who wouldn't usually have them.

Great, I was thinking the same thing.
It would also be a good opportunity to retail!

In October we were so quiet, I really did start to panic!
So I decided to put my thinking cap on and come up with a new way to promote my salon. I didn't have any sort of budget, so it had to be free!

In the end I googled local companies that had quite a number of employees and then picked up my telephone! I spoke to the receptionist of about 20 organisations, explained I owned a local beauty salon and that I would like to offer a discount to all of their employees. I asked who would be the best person to speak to, and I managed to get through to someone on each call. I then emailed over a poster, which I designed myself on Word, offering an introductory discount for initially using our services and a standard discount to be used thereafter.
By the end of the week I had booked up the whole of my next week!
Just goes to show you what you can do with a little creativity! :)

Can i ask how much of a discount you offered just wondering what would drive them in xx

Hi, Geeks!
Ok, there's a tricky one for you as I'm running out of ideas.
I moved from UK to this country in May, I've just rented a treatment room in a salon (had few clients at home before). To not give too much clues I'd only say it's Scandinavia ;)
So:
- people here are quite distant and stiff. They'd rather die then complement your nails and ask you who's done them
- they don't give a monkey about offers, discounts etc - quite other way round, if it's not expensive there must be something wrong with it (beauty services are REALLY expensive here)
- there's no charities going on
- there's no ruffles
- leaflet drop is very expensive, also would be seen as spamming
- majority of women is not interested in regular treatments, it's more like one off for special occasion - they'd rather do horse riding and working in a stable instead :D
...and so on, you have a picture. We talk about small town not a big city.
In England I would exactly know what is the way to go in terms of marketing but here I have no clue. I guess if anything works with them it's recommendation but even though the salon owner advertises as much as she can (all my love to her, she's my great advocate) I still have very few bookings. I do things that are not done by anyone else locally and my offer is kind of special but it doesn't seem to bother anyone.
Any ideas? What are universal things that would work all over the world? They can easily afford it so it's not about money - how to get them WANT IT??? I've been told that people here need a bit more time to get used to me and get to know me - how to push them then? I can't wait forever... also how they can get to know me if they don't have anything to do with me??? I'd understand one booking to stick nose in, check out what this foreign girl is doing but they're not THAT interested :D
Every bit of advice will be very appreciated :)

Annabel, I don't think there is much you can do about the lack of interest in nails, Do you do any other treatments? Who are your potential clients and what does interest them?
I used to live in Europe and where I lived people just weren't that interested in their appearance at all. Hair salons were really expensive and no one had heard of spray tanning! That's just the way it is, nothing to be done about it.
Are there any big UK/American companies around you? You may find that expats are more interested in having treatments with you. Also, do you speak the local language? That does make a big difference.
