Hi hair geeks, just popped across....
I think Ombre is what im talking about....?

Im having the 'Frankie' cut at the end of the month and an all over tint of a medium brown. On the longer side of my hair+fringe i want that brown to fade into a dirty blonde colour....

How would i ask the hairdresser for this? I have no idea what to say, and whats involved in the process? Im worried itll end up looking like a block of light colour on the ends instead of fading in...

Thanks in advance!!

Find a pic or flat out ask. Usually that is how an ombre is done.its not supposed to look like a harsh contrast from ur natural, morelike gradual. Just ask him how he would normally do it or just tell him exactly what u want. The best thing is always to take photos since people who don't kno how to describe could describe something completely wrong and the stylist will take it in the most literal way, and it's all miscommunicated.

I think the way that you described how you want it was quite good, however people do perceive descriptions differently. Pictures would be best. You don't necessarily need to find the exact colour and cut together that you want on one person, just get a pic of the cut you like (obviously frankie) however if you want it slightly longer/shorter than hers then be sure to specify this! Then get a separate pic of the colour technique you like and want- A pic that shows the colour fading in to one another as apposed to seeing where the colour definitely changes!
Also, another thing to think about - on the longer side, where you want the ombre look - do you want it done on the whole side including the top layer of hair also? Or just under the top layer of hair and then top layer texturised, so that when you put the top layer down (as you would wear it) the dirty blonde colour would just show through the ends from underneath? (hope that makes sense!)
Sounds like a beautiful 'do' though :) be sure to show us pics of the outcome :) xx

So.... i think this is what im going to take in with me....

Hoping this will get across what i mean....Obviously only the very ends will be the blonde colour because the cut is so short?

x

Yes, perfect :) Good that you've managed to get one of the back of the haircut aswell :) x

okay, took the picture into the salon and a quite unhelpful woman ummmed and uhhhhed for ages then said she didnt think theyd be able to do it......Surely, and correct me if im wrong because i dont do hair, its just going to be lifting the colour out of the ends?

Im getting a colour and full head tint, and she said if i want the ombre look she doesnt think it will lift because i already have layered dyed hair and will have another tint on top....

:(:(:(:(

Seriously?? That seems a bit odd to me. They should be able to. But if they don't think they can do it then they can't do it.

I'm getting it done next week but I start from a platinum blonde base so I'm kind of doing it the other way around. Trying some things out on myself but I'm also creating the effect with extensions so a bit different. Hopefully will work as I love the ombré look.

What is you natural color and what colour do you have in at the moment??? If it is coloured they should be able to lift the color and then lighten the ends.
