Im tempted to do courses in waxing and spray tanning in the future, but my hubby isnt convinced that there'll be enough income generated. Im already doing L&P nails, but want to branch out. I want to offer services that are in demand and easy to do mobile.
Im here asking all you geeks who offer these services, what do you think? Do they make money? is it too much trouble? are they in demand? Please let me know what you think so my hubby and I can discuss it in more depth.

Yes both make money, but it's like anything you have to promote it and be good at it to get a good income and keep getting new and repeat business. Both can be a little seasonal I have found. e.g. not as many leg waxes in winter compared to summer.

hth's xx

Spray tanning is also quite seasonal, summer time and Christmas mainly, but it's a very lucrative area to get into, and so much safer than the old sunbeds. Having said that, once you can persuade your clients to maintain their tan, there's not much in it, cost wise, between sunbeds and spray tans.....who wants to fry on a sunbed....not me lol!

I offer nails, spray tanning and waxing and out of tanning and waxing...the tanning wins hands down! JMO

Hi,

I agree both are good income generators.

I personally don't do spray tanning yet but my daughter does and she does between 10-15 per week.

Waxing is a very good income with quick turnaround of clients.

Yes I do a lot of tans at the mo, people seem to be more careful about sunbeds now.

I get more business from tans than waxing xx

I do tanning and waxing and make far more from tanning than waxing.

You have less out lay with waxing, but tanning is less labour intensive and you make your money really quickly. With the right equipment you will do a full body spray in 5-10 mins, where as it takes about 30 mins to earn the same amount of money waxing. Also bear in mind how popular tanning is becoming? If i were you I'd go for both, but if you had to choose just one, I'd go for tanning.

I have done both, but generate far more income and clients from waxing. There is so little overhead costs involved. 80% of my income comes from waxing... and the majority of my clients come all through the entire year.

I definitely do more tanning than waxing. They are both profitable treatments to offer. I must say though, I love spray tanning!!!

I would say...perhaps start with tanning as this seems to be more popular, especially with summer just round the corner and put money aside when you can and then invest in waxing because both treatments are good money earners which get you a good income in a short space of time

xx

I do waxing but not tanning (yet). I have lots of regular clients all year round and then the booster clients for occasions and hols.

Do any of you do tanning mobile? I know you can buy 'tents' but not sure if they're any good or not. What products are best too?

I've done both and mine is waxing x

I dont do spray tanning at mo, but am looking into it, though Ive been told that round here its not that popular. I do a lot of waxing though, and make a lot of profit out of it!:green:

do both !

i do about the same amount of each.

forgot to say mine was male waxing x

:green: I do more waxing than tanning, but tbh I don't have time to promote tanning as much as Id like

funnily enough I do more waxing than tanning - both for me can be good income generators:hug:

I don't do waxing as of yet, but do loads of tanning, and the payback on my tanning equipment, (which is a good quality and volume compressor, airbrush and booth) was less than 1 month!

But like everyone says you have to promote it!

I offer both tanning and waxing - and take far more money with waxing. Like angelxdevil, however, all my clients are male, and I've found that spray tanning is still a relatively new arena for male customers so maybe this has something to do with it?

Andy :)

waxing is more popular with my clients as they tend to have this done all year round. i find tanning can be really popular in some months and then really quiet in others.
