Hey geeks! I'm in a sitch where I want my own products if I open my own salon. But I want to open a place that's for extensions so I'm calling it Lil K's Hair Extensions but when it comes to styling products and shampoo for oily hair for example shall I still call it Lil K's hair extensions but sub title it for oily hair?? If you understand what I'm saying lol I don't want clients having cut n blows thinking they cant buy products because they don't have extensions lol

Hiya,
Can't your brand name just be Lil K's? And then you can brand individual products however you want?... eg,
L'oreal is the brand, but they have a gazillion products in their range.
I personally wouldn't limit yourself to people thinking only extension users can use the products...
I hope I understood what you meant!!
:)

Yea I suppose I could, but been Lil K's Hair Extensions for a while now as I've concentrated more on the extensions with clients. Hmmmm will have to have a long think about this one but thanks for your input :)

No worries, good luck! :)

Out of net rest which extensions do you specialise in? Get someone to design a fab logo and brand image and have that printed onto your bottles xx

Had a logo already lol I do pre bonded, micro ring, micro ring sew in weft and looking into ultrasonic "cold fusion" x

Fabulous I am looking into doing a pre bonded course decisions decisions. I like your ambition by the way and your passion xx

Lil K is fab! Wish I lived closer so I could go get mine done with you and no doubt talk about extensions all day like two nutters!

I reckon leave the subtitling and just brand it amazingly... if someone has really dry hair then u can always say to them "maybe try this instead"...kinda coax them in the right direction ;) by the way, how did u find the cold fusion method? am looking into doing it! xxx

Cold fusion was ok, took slightly longer but with more practise I'm sure il speed up lol x

I love your orginal idea of Lil K's Hair Extensions- then sub brand maybe by bottle colour...with small description. To differantiate the range, so logo is same for all, and its got dual purpose ie that your also use for extentions.....more of a unique selling point. Clients would buy it because if they ever choose to have extentions by you then they already have some! hehe! xoxo

Just gonna be Lil K's Hair now x

Think lil k is a good idea, you could even still have a range set aside called lil k's extensions-greasy hair, so that it's for extensioned hair and just lil k-greasy hair for non extension hair so you have the best of both, colour the extension range bottles different to regular and display them in separate rows or shelfs depending how you are displaying retail.
For the visual merchandising, do it with the mind frame that no1 understands anything so it needs to be separated to make it easy shopping. 1 idea is each line below is a shelf, the / is a gap in the product range. E is extensions N is natural hair. S is shampoo C is conditioner.

E greasy s / c / n greasy s/ c
E normal hair s/ c / n normal hair s/ c
E moisturising s/ c/ n moisturising s/c
Etc...

So it would be a hair type per shelf with all extension shampoo in a row down, the conditioner next to it, then a substantial gap compared between the extension range ad the normal hair.

Would make a striking statement, ad more so if all the extension bottles matched colour wise and all the normal bottles matched.

Print pot price labels and pop them in the show card tents like the link below (10 for £5.08) and pop one next to the shampoo's and next to the conditioners of each range, choose centre left or right and have them all in the same position regardless of being normal or extensions for a uniform look to pricing xoxo

Did it work a little better with the thin bonds? They looked great by the way. I do charge more for ultrasonic... not just for the fact it's a newer high tech form of fitting but also because it really does take longer x

How much more do you charge then? Although it's cold fusion it's still heating up the glue slightly x

Yeah I know... and the more times the sonic waves are applied to change the molecular structure the hotter it gets which is another reason why I find the thinner bonds better. It's still nowhere near as hot as hot fusion though but like I've said before... I'm not blown away by it. I usually charge an extra 25% an hour as although it's quicker with thinner bonds I have already spent that time adjusting them beforehand.

It's more reassurance from horror stories for some clients... you know how it is, one bad experience and all us good techs are tarred with the same brush! Drives me mad! x
