Keep a spray bottle at hand and just keep spraying the hair when it gets too dry, happy perming!

I love perms. Also on hard to wind hair I keep a bowl of water and dip end paper in it

I've got a perm in this arvo & another tmoz, I rarely do perms and find it soooo fiddly winding on short hair :( I was awesome at it when I was younger lol, it's so cold in work today I can hardly feel my hands so think it's going to b tough to wind today, I just read in the manufac ins to wet the end paper so gonna try tha today see iif it's any easier

I wouldnt mind them if i could do them haha. I shouldnt really cos i dont know enough about them! If it was my choice i wouldnt... 😑

Just keep the hair wet and also don't pull the end paper too far over the end of the hair! It helps to keep the stray bits in place when the end paper isn't pulled too far up.....hope that makes sense, I know what I want to say but can't quite describe it clearly!!!!lol xxx

I LOVE perming...just don't get enough of them...A little 'tip' that just might help...try larger perm papers, this will help you keep those ends together.
Believe it or not, there are different types of 'paper', there are ones you tear off yourself, not keen on these myself, they are toooo 'crispy', and you waste time tearing.
The best are 'pop-ups', you can get a band you wear on your wrist, and just pull them out as you need them, they are pre folded.
There are also the large ones I mentioned, which are especially good for winding long layered hair, as these are great for keeping the ends together, and are a 'fibre' rather than a 'paper', so more flexable.
It really is practice, I'm from the day's when EVERYONE had a perm

I agree, I use fibre ones they're great they don't go as floppy and fiddly when they're wet!xxx

My perms just seem to go limp at the roots? Cant seem to get them tight enough...

You don't want to wind 'tight'......be careful of putting too much stress on the hair and root, as this can cause breakage.
Get yourself a 'dolly', and while-away the hours practicing your technique!

Make sure the band is on the top of the rollers so it isnt like pushing at the roots by the scalp if that makes sense... Then get the white plastic roller pins and put them through the bands of a few rollers, do 2 on each side of the rollers, hope that made sense😂
