Would your sections be too wide or thick if the rollers are popping maybe?

I use a pin tail comb to tuck all ends in by circling it under weft and around rod, I love perming, I trained in the hay day of it. Can't wait for it to come back more fashionable :)

I trained when perms were popular too, back in the 90's! I quite enjoy perming it's a nice change, drives me mad though when a client doesn't follow after care advice!!!!xxx

So who is having perms these days then. Is it older ladies?

I loved perming and always wanted to do the different methods given the chance, spiral, double etc but the one thing that I hated is if I got the tiniest splash on me I smelt like BO for the day lol! Well that what I think perm lotion smells like anyhow lol

I always be careful not to cut it too short before perming and always trim the very ends off after 😃

I only get oldies but a LOT of teenage boys where I live are having them right now! It looks rediculous! They have an undercut up past the temple area then about 6 inches of perm plonked on top of their heads! Each to their own I suppose!

I detest perming! Think it's a generational thing! In 30 years time young hairdressers might be saying to me how much they hate foiling 😂

On the rare occasion I do perm though.. Have you tried shifting the perm rod side to side slightly whilst rolling? It really helps to keep a steady tension! .. Not sure if I'm explaining myself properly?? 😂

Hold the rod both ends and as you wind down move rid from side to side gently, this will create even tension and placement across the rod.

Also make sure section is no thicker than rod and held out at a 90 degree angle to the head on a basic wind
