I've been wearing them for years- usually get a clear fill and put polish on top. A friend has cancer, I'm going to be doing a lot of care, so I told my nail tech I need to take them off, she tried for 20 minutes to tell me "natural, no harm you nails, make stronger".
She took it off, she ground the crap out of my nails, and the acetone hurt, ran to sink, then dunked it in my soy milk I brought with me.
I'm going with no polish for a while, except for days I have business meetings. I'll put on some light Essie color, then take it off. My nails are wickedly thin and bendable now, and I have red and white spots, and places where my nails are super thin. Last time my fill was done (8 days ago), curing hurt, had to keep pulling my hands in and out.
I do the gel thing because it makes my polish last longer- always cooking and cleaning (foster to 12 animals), and spend my day at a computer typing.
Any suggestions as to what to use on my nails till they grow back in healthy? My nails grow crazy fast- if I don't change my polish, within 2 weeks, 1/4 of my nail is growth.
