Hii, i'm a mobile hairdresser & i've recently put some of my colour prices up however as a bit of a goodwill gesture i have still been charging my existing regular clients the old prices! Does anyone else do this or am i being a bit too soft???:rolleyes:x

Your being too soft. You have increased your prices for a reason. Stuff goes up.

Best to print out a price list and give it to your clients, that way they know what they will have to pay and you don't surprise them.

Increase means increase. If one client gets wind ghat you've put up prices for her and not him your gonna get asked 'why for her and not for me? Shops don't say to customers you can have your food cheaper then charge the person behind me more. When your going into a clients home and talking to them your in a very personal space of there's and I know you grow to personally get to know the ins and outs of there lives but at the end of the day you have a life and you have to live and pay bills like the rest of us and how many people relieve me or you from prices hikes. Id send a standard business letter or a circulated text message to all clients informing them of price rises and why. This doesn't then make you feel awkward but everyone knows where they stand with you. It about setting a president. :)

It's a nice gesture, but you deserve the price increase so that you earn the right money. If they are loyal customers, they won't mind paying the extra.

I've made my colour prices too cheap too and I'm really annoyed with myself! I am going to put them up next year but will probably alienate some customers then! It's all my own fault :-(. !!

I know I don't think your lose any but they may not tip you knowing that prices have risen. I put my prices up April 5th the end of the financial tax year then they can't quibble as much.

To be realistic...........no-one should be surprised or shocked by the increase.
With VAT & petrol hikes, what do they expect ???
I increase my prices once a year on 1st April and start dropping that fact into client conversations during March, so that everyone is aware.
After 6 years, I think I've got them trained and they accept it ! LOL :smack:

Thank you all sooo much, i am a soft touch anyway & i think i just needed telling so by everyone! I will print off some new price lists & also send out txts to all my clients! As you have all said stuff goes up so people will expect it anyway!!!x
