Hey guys just had a lady come into salon she has been using home colours for years but recently has developed a reaction to them and the last time was quite sebere she had to visit her gp I told her if she's allergic to them then it's most likely she would be allergic to professional colours I said I would apply a skin test to see but to be honest I was apprehensive to even do that I told her that even if she didn't have a reaction we most likely would not carry out the service anyway due to her history. I also told her there are alternatives like organic colours

Did I do the right thing or should I carry out the service if there is no reaction in my eyes it's not worth the risk but just wanted some reassurance x

I'd explain the situation to her that given her history you'd be wary of applying colour to her even if the skin test shows no reaction. At the end of the day it's your reputation and if you don't feel comfortable doing something based on sound logic then don't do it.

To be honest I wouldnt touch this with a barge pole! Even if she was fine with the patch test, and you coloured it, if she had a reation you would not be covered as she had a pre existing sensitivity....not to mention you wouldnt forgive yourself!
Not worth the risk in my eyes, she will appreciate your professional integrity im sure xxxxx

i dont think i would do it hon, but im a scardy cat!!! if shes had one reaction its likely she will react again, test patch or not, as ap says she now has a pre existing sensitivity so you probably wont be covered by insurance :s hth x

I'm allergic to hairdye. Now I cant even manage balsam and normal shampoo... Have to use babyproducts... Just to let you know how severe it can be.
