Been looking at doing a refreshers colouring course. Thinking of trying matrix. I don't want to be losing clients because my salon "don't do" colours, still aim it at hair extensions but give clients "special deals" when having colour and extensions together :)

i think this sounds good, you dont need to open up as a colour service to everyone but great that you wont be having to send your extension clients elsewhere!
oh and il add if you were in glasgow id be one of those mobile people after a job with you! good luck with the colouring, i bet your not nearly as rusty at it as you think :)

If I'm doing colours I can't then only do them in clients wanting extensions can I? I would have to offer it as a service to everyone x

Well what I would do is not really advertise it put tell clients who are taking them out and in that you do colours as well and highlights. So if someone asks to get it done then yes you can offer it to everyone. At least this is what my clients would want as many want it all done it the same day.

ah yeah i hadnt really thought that thru before typing :o
i agree with the extensionist re advertising though, and you might find that with you being an extension salon any girls coming in for colour may be interested in the extensions aswell, so you might end up with some more extension clients when they see what is done and the transformations while they are getting their colour done :)

So shall I not advertise it on my price list? But when people come in wanting extensions I can offer them an exclusive colouring and extension service?? x

That's what I do with my mobile service really because I don't generally do or specialise in colour but do for clients if they really want it as an in between service.

Great idea but I do think you should do colour. Clients will be desperate to get their colour done once their extensions are out (I know that's what I most look forward too when I have mine out) and you could encourage them to have it coloured in your salon prior to having them
In or maybe include it in the price for your hair extensions but maybe order as you go when you do the consultations a week or so before so you dont have unused stock all over the place. Maybe you could just offer colour to hair extension clients? X

You don't necessarily have to do colour in the salon, you can easily use hair extenions to create colour, this means you will have regular extenions clientele and they will keep coming back as the different looks they can achieve are endless. xx

Yes you can use extensions for colour flashes/highlights but not much use when a client has an inch of dark root growth on her blonde locks! :D

I rent a chair to a hair stylist and some of my clients are now having there hair coloured with the hair stylist, it works really well and cant complain as she is excellent at what she does.

Well I've asked an old friend who I used to work with and she is happy to work with me and to do the colours so I'm happy and so is she :)

I've found the perfect cheap little shop too, just in the process of sorting it all!! Exciting stuff :D

How's your plans coming along?

Waiting to sign the lease and get the keys :) bit slower than I thought! Lol x

Hey fellow geeks!

Didn't realise how much of a ball ache it would be with solicitors and stuff like that! :( all is coming together though x

There is one where i live that is always fully booked even though they are not even hairdressers who run it - they have just done a day course! I am looking in to doing this also as i think people feel more confident knowing you hold a full hairdressing qualification.

If she is fully booked all the time the clients must feel confident in going as being busy must prove she is good at what she is doing

Gots ma keys people!! :D will take pics and update soon :D

Things are starting to take shape :)
