So on the one show... People in and from Britain selling their hair! 20 inch ponytail in blonde would apparently get £250! Sorry but I wouldn't chop all my hair off for that. Would you? and what do you think? X

Where do you think hair comes from? Suppl lines from Russia have dried up as people there are no longer so poor they have to sell their hair.
Most of the hair you buy is combing out of people's brushes that have been gathered from dumps and processed. Good hair, double drawn, is getting difficult to get hold of.
£250 would be for virgin blonde hair, and would be good money for it as there would be lots of shorter hairs present and waste.
Prepping hair cut from the head into a useable form for hair ext or wigs is skilled and time consuming work.

Unless you get slave indentured children in the third world to do it....

£200 hair ext anyone?

No way! It's good for those who want a drastic change and can get paid for it but certainly not for me lol xx

Personally Id rather have extensions I knew were properly sourced and pay whatever it took. But I still would not cut my hair and sell it. Well I guess if it was for a decent cause id consider it but not for money!xx

I had a make client who I shaved his hair for charity, it wasn't massively long and not loads of it, but we got £80 for it towards his charity. Can't remember who I found but a company in London. Men's hair is perfect as he had no colour on it, did bugger all with it, perfect virgin hair!

I don't really see anything wrong with selling your hair. You can sell your eggs (well, obviously only women can do this). Personally I don't think selling your hair is such a big deal if you're getting it cut off anyway. If I was really struggling for money then there would be worse ways to make a couple hundred pounds.

most ponytails are only 100g and i tend to use 170g-200g on a full head of micro-rings/fusion/glue etc... and i haven't found british hair to be of a good quality either at that length so i think they are very lucky to get that price and have probably sold it to people who don't know how to purchase good quality hair cutting out the middle/geedy man.

goodluck to them

My sister recently had her cut, she did have really long REALLY thick blonde hair (down to bottom of rib cage) and cut it into a short bob because she just wanted a change. Wish i told her before going to keep the hair, she would have been chuffed to get £250 for it!!!

I'm guessing this is the type of situation most people in Britain would do it, I don't see many people getting their hair cut off just for the money, their probably just cashing in on something they want to do anyway.

this is good to know and should all send any long locks away..

poor wee mites x

And I binned 18" or their abouts of hair away the other day, some little child would have been so chuffed. The next lot of long hair I get I will be sending.

I still remember cutting a ladys hair years back from well below her waist to shoulder length, when she went I actually cried because I didn't want to cut it, then again £70 was worth it. Xoxo
