Hi all,

Totally new to this site, but I have been thinking about getting into nails for ages. I'm a teacher but always loved the idea of doing nails properly on the side as I've always had my nails done and have started doing them myself. My main interest is in Shellac, and I've found a 2 day beginner course on Sweetsquared with kit included. Apparently there's a lot of theory beforehand, which is why I suppose there's only 2 days of the actual course. Just wanting to know really, are there any of you out there who've done this course and can give me any advice? Thank you X X

I did it in July. I'm also in a graduate profession at the moment.

It was great, I loved it & my model said I did a better French on her than qualified techs she's been to before which tells you something about the quality of the training considering I'd never painted someone else's nails before.

It's addictive though, one course leads to another.

SweetSquared and CND is some of the best training available in the world, you cannot go wrong with a CND course run by S2. (be aware there are those out there claiming to be CND accredited but they are not - however, as SweetSquared are the official UK CND distributors you can be sure they are legitimate).

You'll have a fab time, learn loads and like FluffyCloudLand says the only risk is addiction ;):D

Amazing thank you both! Looking forward to my journey into the world of nails!!! X X

It says you are in London. Please do check on your borough's licencing requirements as most require a licence even for home salons.

It would be a shame to pay for the cnd course and find yourself unable to work legally.

@willowrose That's great - thank you. Do you know where I'd find out?

I done the beginner shellac course recently. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it.
I came away confident and felt happy in the application process.
I applied early so I had more time to study the pack. If you don't pass first time they can reset it and you can try again.
I've only been doing it less than a few months and have now started to try out nail art
designs from thier educators youtube vids.

Looking forward to doing more courses with them especially training in acrylics.
I don't have many clients yet but from what I've researched it can take a yr or 2 to build up a gd client base.
wish you all the best with it.x

I did the beginners course last year. I absolutely loved it! I felt confident to get to work straightaway and I wouldn't hesitate to do another course with them x

Thanks everyone, you've all been so helpful X
