Hi. Hoping someone can advise. I was at college two weeks ago and as students we have to practise on each other. The girl who was doing my acrylics was brushing on rather than building and patting into place the acrylic. When I became aware of what she was doing I told her that this was wrong but she wouldn't be told, so I called the tutor over who quickly stopped her and showed her the correct procedure. Anyway I left them on overnight as it is an evening course and was late when I got home. Everything felt ok at first but two weeks later my nail beds have red bruise like [patches on them which I can see through my nail, and are very sore, my nails hut if I catch them and feel really weak. Is this something else or likely to be the acrylics? Back to college tomorrow after half term, should I avoid having anyone practise on me til they have healed? Anything I can do to help them recover and any good nail strengthners anyone can recommend? Sorry for the long post. Any help really appreciated.

It sounds like the girl over buffed your nail plate too much before doing the acrylics. This will have made your nail plate really thin, which is why it feels sore and looks red. The acrylic wont have done the damage, the girl has, which can happen a lot when learning.

There's not much you can do apart from letting your nails grow out. Also get some solar oil on your nails at least twice a day. Be careful if you still have to practice at college as you don't want your nails to be buffed again when they're so thin

Eta did you remove the acrylics? If so how?
