:irked: Hi Geeks,

I just have to say how annoyed I am at what Ive just seen on Ebay - and to make it worse theres actually a CATEGORY for it!!!!!

TATOOING AND PIERCING GUNS!!!! - FFS! So, like, the whole world and his wife can just go 'buy' a gun and start piercing & tatooing ppl??????? - This is outrageous and down right stupid. I wonder how many ppl have been really hurt by stupid ppl buying these and using them!

This seller above obviously thinks its fine to sell the needles and DIY!!!! ? - speechless!

You have to be qualified to use these things!!! Where on ebay does it say - 'You must produce your certificate before you can buy these items?' - IT DOESNT!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR.(same story with nails!)

Very very angry at this. Just had to vent!:irked:

omg - tatoo guns!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah Ive seen this before, I think its awful that the next person is free to buy things like these and start piercing or tattooing themselves or others!! But its the same ... as long as the seller is earning their money!!

Its not worth getting yourself in twist over it... these items have been sold on ebay for years and there will always be someone selling something that you don't approve of... just turn the page as you can't do anything about it!

not sure about piercing, but there is not currently a qualification for tattooing, although there is talk of an nvq coming out. you do of course have to be licenced by your local authority and insured to carry out tattooing on others.

Pmsl - one of my clients told me that a man in our town tattoos people in his garden shed!! Now I understand how it's possible. Some people will risk their lives for a "bargain".

Jen is right you will always find things on ebay that should not be sold yes it makes us all mad but its been going on for years.:Scared: Not a lot that can be done about it!

Thats interesting ... so how do you get into tattooing and get certificates for insurers and licencing?? :(

I would have thought there needs to be something to stop any old people tattooing others??

i think that generally you train with an experienced tatooist and the premises licence covers you.

Errr .... the point is they dont!

There will always be people that abide with the law and then those that don't. Bob the Bungler down the road may well be qualified and insured in what ever he is performing... but you wouldnt know by just his mucky shirt would you!!! lol!

Bad joke as maybe but pmsl!

The problem is, you can buy all of that stuff legally anyway!:irked:
I am a trained bodypiercer though I have'nt really done any for years. but I have no certificate! Which is scary because even though I am carefully trained and experienced, there is nothing to distinguish me from anyone who cares to pick up a needle.
As far as I know(, and it is about 8 years since I worked in a large & then popular piercing studio) the requirements were general health & safety regs (use of an autoclave, sterile single use needles, suitable piercing area etc.), but no actual formal certification for the piercing. Wrong innit?

well that does sound dodgy. but on the other hand he may be following all the health and safety requirements and be an excellent tatooist. you do hear of a lot of people doing nails in summerhouses and they are often better than salon staff.just playing devils advocate.

.

Sorry I had a little laugh at this my sence of hummor LOL!!!!

oh yeh, my point...:o
the places where you buy piercing needles also sell tattooing eqpt. And you can just buy it:irked: :irked: :irked: :irked:
Actually...shall I get one & just have a go? Its bound to be the same as nail art innit??
Anyone want to volunteer some part of their body? you can always get it lazered off if i go wrong? lmao

same goes with tattoo equipment, i bought my 17 year old daughter a complete tattoo kit from the most reputable industry outlet with no questions asked. she does not of course use it on people, but a tattooists initial training consists of tattooing bananas, melons and pigskin.

How Can You Tattoo A Banana????

Omg!
