Hiya,

I have a client who has split her nail about 1/2 cm across on her thumb very high.
How would you recommend protecting this?
I was thinking about just using gel as an overlay on this nail but is there a better way to stop it from splitting across any further?
Or is their a product anyone knows of that would help heal this?

TIA :)

Maybe try a bit of silk first??
I'm a hairdresser but I had Biosculpture Gel and they used silk underneath. Also tried it with Gellux too.x

I've never used silk before.
I'll have a look at this though, thanks!

Yup I silk before x wait til the resin dries then buff flat with a white block you will be surprised you can't even feel the break when you do it right x

I have 2 clients with split nails. Both have silk then the gel base coat. I tried to repair it with resin which works but the gel always lifted so now I just secure it with the base coat and it lasts 3 weeks x

Cut a little piece of silk to cover the split.apply first your base coat, cure, then add another layer of gel and place the silk where you want it on the nail and make sure it blends with the gel.when you cure that, add a last layer of gel to cover everything well, cure and file or buff a little bit but be carefull not to reach to the silk.this methot will keep it safe until that part crows out.

Brilliant! Thanks guys - unfortunately the nail split before her appointment and a few of her other nails have done the same.
They've all been cut down short with a gel polish to allow them to grow again but next time I will definitely look into the silk :)
