Hey I'm hoping someone can answer my question.......what is a Toni and Guy vardering??

Thanks x

Never heard of it but did a quick search and it looks like training in a salon's cutting/styling technique.

Hi

It's a course that you must do to work for the. Even if you have been doing hairdressing for 5.10 or 15 yrs you have to learn there way of cutting. I think they pay you a small wage whilst you do the course and it's over 6-12 wks xx

Basically they put you through there training and teach you there foundations you have to do it to work in Toni and guy and then once you've completed it it's in your contract if you stop working for them before a certain date you have to pay the training costs back x

Thanks guys :) does anyone know how much they pay while you do this?

Not sure hunni it says the course costs on the tng site but they'll obvs get it cheaper x

Im not sure how much it is now but im toni and guy trained and i used to get a pound a hour :( Im sure its gone up though by now hopefully! Its so worth it though as soon as you have toni and guy on your cv potential employers seem alot more interested as the training is so good. Good luck x

Thanks guys so much for your responses, really helpful :) is anybody do the vardering right now? X

I personally would be put of if a stylist came to me and their cv said Toni and guy on it!! No chance would I give them a job! But that's just me!

Sorry for being uber-thick but why's that? I'm just training (at college) and "assumed" they were a good place to work for!! :)

I've seen what comes out of their salons!! Heard hundreds of horror stories, and know lots of stylists who work their and how they have been trained, I have also never seen one of their salons with more than two clients in!! X

I thought they were the crem de la crem for training? The academy in Mcr is always busy as are the 2 salons that they have. I've worked with a few T&G stylists and they were alright. However I do agree that some of the styles are not wearable xx

I think it's wrong to say all their stylists are rubbish. I worked for Toni & Guy for
Three years having already been hairdressing for several years and I found their training to be a great bonus on top of my previous training. ( I hasten to add that I was very lucky and had done an apprenticeship in a great salon!)

However I have trade tested stylists whose sole training is T&G and is was like watching someone painting by numbers!!

They do treat staff unfairly and the wages aren't that great if you are a busy competent stylist you could do better elsewhere,, thisvaries widely across T&G salons depending on wether they are company salons or franchises in my experience.

Sorry if I have gone on a bit, but hope this helps!! ;-)

I didn't say they were all rubbish Hun, I know some great ones but I personally wouldn't employ a T&G stylist like I said that's just my very blunt opinion.

Wow, thank you for your reply, apologies for taking a while to reply. Anyway, that's really interesting to know, perhaps they won't be who I look to in the future!
You're right about the salon's being half empty though - I just thought I must walk past at quiet time :) LOL. Well you live and learn!
