So, when your client says 'oh, I feel like a change but don't know what you have', what do you think?? 'Oh no, I wish she'd stick to p+w' or 'yes! I've got that perfect new look up me sleeve just waiting for the right client'??

Personally, I really struggle with original ideas and I'm not very artistic :o. I much prefer the technical skill of producing a 'perfect' nail enhancement!I get a lot of my inspiration from the gallery on here, and I attempt to reproduce ideas on my clients. I love doing glitter tips, and I'm really liking the flower canes at the moment for a bit of embellishment.......

So, where does your inspiration come from? And what do you prefer - a simple p+w or an all-out arty creation?

Great thread hun !!!...i like the challenge so if they do want a change,i want to give them one !! :green:

What does TPTW stand for :o

Sorry, just found out from another thread!

I have never been an all out arty person, but I have never tried anything 3D so I suppose I would never know.

I love glitters & traditional P&W. Its a change from the norm if anyone want's anything different from square.

I'm loving enamel ATM too, I have never been an enamel person but am pushing the boundaries at the moment for myself.

I check the gallery on here too, to see other peoples ideas and creations. I think Layla's work is brilliant and is always producing something different.

Well thankfully my enhancements are mainly p&w on the whole.

I do do a fair bit of natural nail care and hand painted nail art but I am not artistic in the least.

What normally happens.. I ask the client what they have in mind and we come up with something together. Lucily my clients that enjoy nail art are not into works of art but mainly flicks and duel colours, a bit of foils, glitter and the like and thats me done.

I bought a kit with lots of ideas on flowers and the like.. but its never been used, I just don't have the time or the inclination to work at this skill, other than I already offer.

Great thread Vetty... I may even have a go this weekend with my kit to see if I can come up with some new looks :)

What Inspires Me??????????????

You Guys - Pure & Simple!!!

What about Minx?? Minx Nail Coverings

Surely these new nail veneers are the answer to a nail techs prayers.

100's of designs to choose from and you can apply to all 10 nails in ten minutes.

They stay on until they grow out but are easy to remove if you get fed up with the design.

No chemicals involved in using them .. no waiting for them to dry.

They sound ideal to me as the added value to your service is much more realistic than hand painted nail art and they really do look gorgeous. In fact you couldn't get the effect these give by hand or by airbrush.

Victoria Beckham and Beyoncé are being 'Minxed' in California and raving about it in the magazines so your clients will soon be asking about it, I'm sure.

I am not very arty at all....thankfully 99% of my clients are french lovers but i do have a few who like something different...looking thought the gallery on here gives me ideas but then i doubt my own ability to be able to do it well.

I think to be good at nail art you have to love nail art...and ain't a big fan so i think thats why i don't embrace it with confidence as well as i could.

can minx be applied over enhancements ..?

I get ideas from all sorts of places.
I look at other tech's sites (aka geeks LOL).
Clothing in stores for 'patterns' or colour combinations I might not have thought of.
Words sometimes: as in 'how can I represent this word?"

I like CHALLENGES when they come to me with a new idea or something I haven't tried yet.
I LOVE those. Sometimes I get frustrated, but the harder it is, the more I want to perfect it.
I have about 3 or 4 clients that come to me with ideas of what they'd like and it's great fun. Or they'll say "I have such and such an event, I need something that ties in with it".... So on goes the thinking cap..

One time, a client wanted spring nails. Her interpretation: yellow ducks wearing red rubber boots, carrying an umbrella. Turned out pretty cute actually, though her hubby was not impressed (not sexy enough for him, apparently LOL)

BRING IT ON, I say. I'll try ANYTHING once:green: (at LEAST, once haha)

I get my inspiration from lots of different places, I quite often see something i.e. a fabric or something in the craft shop and wonder how it would look on nails.

I look at magazines, websites and of course on here in the gallery and have a play on my own nails first before trying it on anyone else! :)

I absolutely love an artistic challenge, especially if I have a theme to work with. Love competition work, but hate the nerves that go with it!!

I love doing glitter tips and nail art on my sisters nails, the more fiddly the better... I get that sense of satisfaction after I have done a fiddly set of nail art and they look super.

I am scared stiff of the words "I would like a change what do YOU think"
To be honest thankfully it doesn't happen very much my clients stick to what they know.
I do find a lot of my inspiration from other geeks on this site I take a lot of time going thought their gallery's and albums.

Magazines are a great place for ideas and of course online sites from other countries too.

I love an artistic challenge,i get my inspiration from pictures of nail art and lots of different areas such as a design on peice of material and jumble a few designs up in my head and create a design from the combinations before i found the geeksite. Since then i get my inspiration from the all techs artistic handywork. I love all that glitter, flowers, money nails, marbeling, decals, different nail designs and bold colours.

These MINX nail coverings look really charming..thank you sharing xx

Everywhere! I love the demos at trade shows, pictures on this site, magazines.

Someone posted a tiger face nail where they had designed it all out of L+P (sorry i cant remember the geeks name ) and i thought that it was just stunning, i'd never seen anything like it, and that inspired me to try layering the colours. I know something like this takes hours to do so you'd prob not get a client wanting it, but it does look good to have on display to show clients what you can do.

Anyone who knows me, knows my nails always have some sort of glitter/art/design on, and i never have the same thing twice.

can minx be applied over enhancements ..?

Now, Angie, would I be interested in Minx if they couldn't be??

They can be applied over enhancments or natural nails but of course enhancements give the perfect surface for application.

I have been 'Minxed' ... been wearing them for a week, washing up and doing lots of demos and the Scrubfresh has not touched them!! They still look perfect. Nail techs will love to wear them to work in as they just stay looking gorgeous.

Now you all know I am not a fan of nail art. I don't think it suits me or my lifestyle but this I can wear because there are so many classy designs .. takes 10 minutes to apply, you don't have to wait for anything to dry and they just peel off when you are sick of them, but they don't budge until you want to remove them.

The nail tech does not have to look for inspiration as there are so many designs to choose from and best of all .. it is nail art that is affordable and brings a spectacular return for the salon because they are not expensive for the salon to buy.

I must admit I love the idea of just having to say to clients "Pick one"...
