Most of my clients know exactly what they want. I always wear coloured l&ps with arty bits and rhinestones which a fair few clients ask for (I've set the trend at work for clusters of rhinestones around the cuticle lines). A lot of clients love the coloured and glitter powders, we have such a large range of colours we ask what they want and present them with the colour ranges and ask them to pick one.
My inspiration comes from so many things; art, other nail techs, Japanese nail designs, fabric patterns, nature, fashion etc etc. We also have in stock the latest colours as well, and we scatter retail polishes around the salon and on our desks for us to boast about being 'the colour to wear", we also have nail art boards with tons of different designs - as soon as an idea pops into my head, I'll create the nail asap and add it to the board, we all wear nail enhancements to encourage our clients; wearing your own enhancements is a great way of advertising. This is probably the best way of getting our clients to try something new.
We always have the usual clients though that'll stick to what they usually have. They may go daring with a rhinestone or 2 though
