Hi all, can anyone help? Tinted my mums hair today she is about 30% grey, used equal amounts of 6.46 + 6 with 6% (all majirel) and the roots have come out transparent, but rest of hair has come out a nice rich colour any ideas why and what i should use next time to give better coverage on grey? I thought putting the 6 in should have given the coverage?? mum is a natural base 5 but is going quite grey now!

I would have mixed 6.3 and 6.46 with 20 vol. did you measure it properly? Sounds like maybe you added too much peroxide!!?? If not then perhaps you should try pre softening! Hope that helps ;-

Not to much peroxide as used measuring cup? How do u pre soften? Is it just peroxide on its own?? Wouldnt think id been hairdressing for 12 years would u!! lol Never had to pre soften b4!

Yeah to presoften you can either apply 20 vol (liquid peroxide if you have it) dry it in to hair then apply your target mix. Alternatively you can try adding slightly less developer to your mixed shade. You may find that using the warm base is enough. :)

Cool, thank you :)

i would use 1 part base colour 1 part fashion shade, 10 vol slightly less to tint ratio, leave on 35-40 with gentle heat or 15 vol if that doesnt work.

Dreamage in matrix is great because it covers grey perfectly without mixing in any base shade, so you just get lots of tone and perfect coverage using 6% :)
