I'm 16 years old and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, pls help.

In 2011 I got layers and purple highlights from a professional salon. Then I cut the layers off and dyed it brown. I then wore it up for the next 2 years because I hated it so much and didn't want to deal with it. I started wearing it down 8th grade, 2014

I then bleached it twice around August. Wasn't super even, but applied the Lavendar dye anyways. That was a mess. Went back to my hair dresser, she fixed it and gave me a dark teal color. I bleached it again December 2014. Tried colors, realized it was going to work. And I started dying my hair black to cover the messyness. I dyed it black maybe 2 times.

My hair grows out and I notice one side of my hair is nearly 4 inches shorter then the other side. I go to the hair dresser September 2015 and she says they're gonna even it out and she ends up cutting 6 more inches off then she said she would. Way above where the length was uneven. As it was at my hips before, and was now barley passed my shoulder.

It has grown out a lot since and I only dyed it black one more time in December until I realized there was no point anymore cause it just fades so quick.

My daily hair routine for the last 18 months: I only use a comb (I am completely serious they have yelled at me so much for using a brush), I wash and condition with either one n only or ion products (from Sally's) about 2 times a week. I use leave in conditioner and keratin oil every time I wash. For a few months I went with a hair mask in place of conditioner and would leave it in for an hour. I also use this ion foaming protein rebuilder every 2 weeks. I DO NOT USE ANNY HEAT TOOLS. I like the natural texture of my hair so I let it air dry. I only blow dry my bangs to get them straight.

Since I had it cut in September 2015 it has grown around 7 inches. The same side is shorter by a visible 3/4 inches..... It did the exact same thing it did last time. Why is this happening ? I don't want to get it cut again at all

Here are some photos ! I dyed the grown out bleach park pink last week.

it looks like it's snapping off due to all the treatments were both sides cut the same length when you went to the salon what comb are you using to brush hair I would reccomend a paddle brush or tangle teaser and no more dying atall the hair can continue to break off for aslong as the damage hair is there the only way to rectify this is to have the damaged hair gradually cut out with no more colouring what does it feel like when wet your hair does it feel like overly soft like gum does it feel crispy when dry? x

Thank you so much for the help! It means a lot! Last time I had my ends trim she took about 2 more inches off and that was around Febuary and she cut it even I'm pretty sure. I use a wide tooth comb at the moment. From looking at photos of me from 2-3 months back I can notice the difference in length, and That was even before this dumb pink dye :/. When it's dry it feels very brittle and rough. When wet I have the same brittle feeling, there's really no gummy feeling there. I am going to buy coconut oil and another hair mask to use and really focus it on my ends. I made the very dumb mistake of not picking up a good repairing treatment to use while I dyed it pink. What do you mean by cut off gradually? Would that be like a trim every month or would they need to cut off the dead ends all at once when I go in there?

unfortunately it seems like you have over processed your hair and most of us have done it when younger including me but you need to stop dying it and if you do have a colour go to your salon but I would leave it alone have regular trims as the over dyed hair cut out eventually you will see less breakage try not to wash it so much like every other day or maybe even a little longer if you can get away with it because that to can further dry out your hair the dry feeling it has is how fragile it is if you can bare it I would go shoulder length again and get the majority of the damaged hair out if not regular trims but I can't stress enough no more dying honestly it will go like chewing gum and you won't be able to brush it it will be that delicate I have done this and it's not pretty it took 7 months of no dye regular trims and a leave in rebalancing treatment infatreat to get it to the point where it no longer snaps off x

regular trims like 6-8 weeks x

I agree, your hair is really over processed. You should stop colouring it and let it grow out, have regular trims every six weeks and use a good treatment on it weekly!

I know your not going to like what I'm going to say but...
That needs to be cut off I'm afraid! No amount of conditioning treatments etc is going to repair that much damage, it looks and sounds like it is very very over processed and damaged! If you really don't want to get it all cut off you are still going to need to get a trim every 4-6 weeks! It will take a while to get better that way. Also make sure you are not using to much protein based products that can make it worse! Switch between protein and moisture shampoos and conditioner. Coconut oil treatments will help x
