If your worried 20vol might be too little and 30vol a little much, mix equal parts 20+30vol for 25vol
 
OP please don't mix developers.

Stick to your brands instructions to lifting from a 6 to 8. If it says 30vol for 2 levels of lift then use 30vol.
 
I agree with cams, follow manufacturers instructions. 40 seems very OTT
