Hi Geeks

Slight rant, vented frustration here so its a little long.

I have been saving to do some training with the fabulous Kim for a while and decided in my research I would go and have my waxing done (Legs and Brzillian) with someone trained by the lady herself to see if I could spot any difference in technique. I was really disappointed in what I found so I would like all the rest of you Kim trained ladies to tell me what I found is most certainly not the way she had been taught!

The lady I contacted was friendly and helpful and owned a home salon. I made my way to see her, a good 60 mile round trip for me, and was let into a beautiful house by the lady who was dressed professionally and shown upstairs to her room. The room was absolutely beautiful, there was relaxing music playing and it had lots of natural light, perfect for waxing. She confirmed what I wanted done and explained the positions I needed to get into but there was no consultation and no client record card, nothing even though she knew I was a therapist herself I do not think this is acceptable.
I got onto what looked like fresh towels to discover, I wont try to sugar coat it, pubic hair on the towel clearly from trimming a previous client. She cleansed my bikini line and made me feel at ease but then proceeded not to put any gloves on or even sanitise her hands. She used PR wax and also used only ONE spatula throughout the whole service, double dipping obviously! and then as she moved onto my legs she didn't cleanse them with anything but simply went on to wax.

I was also having a massage afterwards and she went straight onto this. Now I don't have massively sensitive skin but whatever oil she was using had a distinctive scent which could have easily aggravated just waxed skin!

I was given no home care.

The result of the wax was good, almost all of the hair intended to be removed was removed though not 100%.

Now this lady is busy all the time from what she tells me and her prices are £35 for a brazillian, I charge £25, so they were a little high but I would have accepted that had the treatment been what I hoped.

Just so frustrating, I am hpoing you other Kim trained waxers will restore my faith!

Don't judge Kim's training or the quality of many therapists by the standard of the service you have received - and I'm sure you won't. Kim has possibly the greatest reputation and I've no doubt she deserves it. Her training is possibly the best. What others then do in their salons after she's trained them, well that's up to the individual therapist.

If you were to train with Kim, I doubt very much you'd have anything to complain about, and if YOU apply what you have been taught to YOUR service, it should be first rate.

There will always be therapists with poor procedures, you don't have to be one.

I would say this is more bad habits than anything. Im not kim lawless trained but sounds like the result was ok and techniques ok (although not 100% all hairs gone) but more the way the treatment was conducted which can be taught but not necessarily in this case been carried out.
Just out of interest, did you mention any of your concerns to her during the treatment? The not washing hands thing would have done it for me instantly although I know sometimes from shock it makes you Put up and shut up xx

I was going to reply but I don't think I can give a reply as perfect as this one. Sums it all up perfectly. :)

I Agree Absoultly With SJK Kim IS FANTASTIC at what she does and is very firm about techniques and about H&S all of this is made VERY VERY clear when taking her classes.

I've only got half way through your post and I can't finish because of the steam coming out of my ears:(

I can assure you that that is not the way she was trained as no doubt there will be numerous replies on here to verify that.

I don't use towels as I think they're unhygienic. I would never work without gloves and NEVER double dip during intimate waxing.

Unfortunately what they do when they leave my training is beyond my control. Also, if they're not up to my standards on the day, they have to come back free of charge to re-sit. However, as we know from how many bad drivers there are out there; people go on to get bad habits.

Not sure where you live but if you can come to me in Essex, I'd be delighted to do a Brazilian wax for free to put your mind at rest and show you how it should be done.

Why did you get on the bed with pubic hair there and why did you let her double dip or wax you without gloves. Re aftercare; I give verbal advice. I wouldn't book in a massage after waxing as it's sure to sting like hell and your pores are open. Are you a therapist yourself?

So sorry you've had a bad experience. I'm going to PM you for details but don't worry as I'd never divulge anything.

Livid of Essex!!!!!!! x

I was trained by Kim a long time ago...and even now...when I lay my wax down I hear her saying 'keep it flat'...apply a 'drop' of oil only'...'wear gloves that fit'!!!! That woman haunts me lol!

I hasten to add, I always wear gloves, and yes Kim, I clean my pots after everrrrry client lol!

So, most of us keep it as it should be :)

Ps. Zooks. If you book in with me for your free Brazilian, don't mention who you are, just book using your real name then when I say 'That'll be £40 please', then tell me who you are and it'll be free. That way you'll see that I wax the same way that I teach.

I've PM'd you.

Still livid of Essex:) X

Wish i could come to essex for a wax everytime i get one it feels stubbly not nice and smooth :-(

Whoa, ok let me rectify what I should have said from the beginning.

Completely ignorant and mis-worded on my part.

I am critising this woman and in no way Kim, which is why I was checking that these thing are obviously not taught hence the Kim being in inverted commas in the original title, implying I wasn't even sure if she had been trained by Kim. Please don't take my post as an attack on Kim or her training.

I am absolutely under no circumstances judging Kim's training, from what I understand Kim's training is the best. What has frustrated me is someone using the fact that they have had Kim's training as a way to encourage clients and then completely disregarding even the most basic of waxing hygiene.

So huge apologies Kim on that front, in no way intended to offend you.
I explained to her with total honesty the reason I was going to her, that I wanted t attend one of your classes, so I can't believe she carried on as she did.

I am indeed a therapist and I blindly went ahead with it. The hair was at the bottom of the bed so I could avoid it! As for the double dipping and lack of gloves I was actually pretty gobsmacked and totally unsure how to find the words to ask her. I was shocked to be honest and as she was genuinely so nice I didnt want to offend her! As it happened the massage didnt affect me but I know damn well it could have affected other people with more sensitive skin.

I live absolutely miles away from Essex but thankyou so much for you kind offer and please do accept my apologies.

Hi Zooks.

Please don't worry at all as I knew it wasn't directed at my training but at the therapist. How funny if she's reading this……bet she's giving the towels a good old shake out the window:)

Hope it's restored your faith in my training. No hard feelings and thank you for your lovely PM. x

OMG!!!! I am literally speechless!! Surely everyone, regardless of who they trained with, should be aware of the double dipping issue with intimate waxing??? If she was 'Kim trained' then she would've had that strongly drummed into her..
And no consultation? How would she have known if you were on medication thinning your skin which may have torn badly during the wax?? and what would she have done if you had? My spine has shivers going down it just thinking of it!!
I would have refused to do a massage afterwards if it was on a waxed part even if client wanted it..and aftercare should always be given, but perhaps as she knew you were a therapist she thought she would be being patronising by going through it? Just a thought....
Tbh I used to use towels, covered with a plastic sheet then couchroll on top, but now its just the plastic sheet and couchroll as its sooo much easier to maintain the couch as clean and hygienic, and it saves on the washing too, as every client got a clean set of towels too!!
Its such a shame that you have had a dubious experience with your wax, and as said, Kim's training is very, very good,(I did it..!) so it makes this worse really...at least the actual waxing seemed ok..
