Hello I'm new :)

In January 10 I went from white blonde to bright purple using 55/66 and had this colour until the summer when i went back to blonde. It was a bright pinky red purple. Then ended up going brown as I had a new job and my hair was in rubbish condition.
After about 3 months deep conditioning (hair is quite short) I deemed it Ok to try and remove the brown to replace the original purple colour.
Of course the colour didnt take because the brown was too dark so I did a bleach bath to remove the buildup of colour and tried again with the purple.
Now its very dark reddy brown with a slight purple tint.

What im wondering is the best way to use this colour and if the special mixes i have, 0/65 and 0/66 could help to lessen the red tones and make it more vibrantly purple? This was the problem I had when the colour before as it was very red. I also found that I couldnt use less than 30 vol on my hair as it was so dark it didnt quite lift up and the roots went an orange colour.

If not are there any more vibrant permanent purples I can use when my hair has grown out more?

Thankyou

I love 55/66, infact I have it on right now! I agree, it can sometimes look quite red. I would try it with the 0/66 mixtone, I usually put an inch in per half tube.

Thanks. I am keeping up intense conditioning and also going to wait for the colour to fade. I think then il bleach bath it until its quite orangey then put a semi permanent purple over to brighten it up a bit. After that the permanent colour may stick more, as when i went purple from blonde it was very bright!

I've just had my hair bleached up an 55/66 mixed with the CT 0/68, put on its pretty violet, my friend is a hairdresser as I did'nt know u could mix tint with semi (know I'm not a pro but I'm very curious so always want to know about everything lol hth) xx

i use this myself and mix with 0/68

Sorry to pinch the thread but I have a question over double number dyes. A tutor at my college told me that double number dyes are not ment to be applied near/on the scalp and wouldn't allow me my re growth in 55/65 or 55/66( can't quite remember now) and i ended up with a quasi semi being put on didn't like the finished result at all.

why did your tutor recommend that? (non hair pro on the nose! lol) just I had mine on roots too, would it be dependant on your base colour ? mines is about a 7 xx

I've never heard that before. I'm still at college and used 55/66 loads as a full head n regrowth tint, n my tutor has never said that.
What was her reason for not using it?

she is a level 3 tutor and all she said was that double numbers are not to go on/near scalp and that is all she said on the matter apart form going with a quasi nearest to the colour, which i had to go with seeing it was the day before my brothers wedding and i was not going to be pictured with 2 tone hair.I'm not sure on base colour its a brown colour i think it is a 6 don't quote me on that as only just learning colouring in my course and even my tutor hadn't heard of this.

Wella's manufacturers instructions don't say anything about that do they?

I've never heard that either, I wonder why your tutor said that?

The double number means it's intense...never heard of it not being put onto scalp.

hi :)
does anyone know if its ok to use 55/66 with 30 vol? itd be going over pre-lightened hair,, i used 6% last time and wondered if 30 vol would make it brighter?

Just make your hair fall out :)

I wouldn't recommend it xx

It will fade even quicker with 30vol, either use the colourtouch alternative or use a semi permanent crazy colour to get the bright colour you want until the bleach has grown out.

I'm guessing their a non hair pro!

If its going over pre lightened hair I'd say stick with 20 vol.
The double numbers in the red tones in Wella mean they are intensive and the colour molecule isn't round it's a pentagon shape, so once it's in the hair the molecules all fit together a bit like a blockbuster board.....with no gaps in between, all interlocking with each other, this gives the most vibrant results.

Because these reds are a different shaped molecule,( the ones with a little red symbol in the chart) adding mix tones won't have much of an effect on the end result as mix tone molecules are round. Wella make these reds as vibrant as possible and any tweaking we try and do won't improve it,
Also they can be applied to scalp if you require as when we had the training days with the Wella technician she coloured a model global colour in 66/46, it was lovely and 8 weeks later when she came for her roots doing.......hardly any fade.
