I have been reading lots of the nail threads until the early hours of the morning! (especially about shellac, brush control and nail polish technique tutorials) and 'zones' keep being mentioned. I am new to nail work (biosculpture and shellac) and am very fussy about neat polishing which is why I'm reading up on it - but am confused which zone is which and where - which consqeuently makes reading the articles confusing! I've googled on the web and on salon geek to try and find out what the 'zones' are but no luck. I've never heard of this before!

What are zones 1 2 and 3 and where are they on the nail?! yikes!

thanks a bunch

I suffered the same confusion as you, when I first joined the website.
That sort of thing isn't taught where I'm at, but certainly goes a long way to helping people understand application when 'chatting'.

I googled for you (sometimes wording is key) and here's what came up.
Hope it helps

That's fab thanks! I had a feeling it was something to do with acrylics - but hopefully just knowing the zones will help with gel polish too.

cheers me dear!

It isn't just to do with Acrylics it applies to the natural nail positions too - you are right though nobody mentioned zones in my training either & I found it confusing to start with, although it really helps on here when people are explaining things in writing rather than in front of you in training.

I was told this on my training however I don't ever follow it really lol I don't understand why zone 1 needs to be done first if it's an overall clear acrylic or something. I much prefer going 3,2,1 unless it's a French then 1,3,2. Can someone explain the importance of it please? x
