I did, thought I must be doing it wrong!! I, too, really wanted to love mineral makeup and thought that i.d would be the best.

Also, I heard (maybe an urban myth) that brides should not wear mineral makeup on their big day as when the photos are developed, their faces are un-naturally white. Anyone else heard of this?

I use nothing other than mineral makeup on all my brides! I don't have any "white-out" problems, so I think it must be an urban myth.

Hi,

I use sheer cover, its great, the concealor used with the powder works best :)

Laura

you also get a good moisturiser and cleanser in the kit that will sort out any dry patches.

If you were going to buy it i would purchase it direct from sheer cover cause ive bought off ebay once and seemed to be a very good looking fake but didnt work as well.

:)

babycakes

that would be great, let me know how you get on!!

As a consumer I have used both Jane Iredale and now Lily Lilo mineral make up.
I don't see me ever going back to liquid make up now.
I have had Jane Iredale make up professionally applied and was amazed at how long it lasted (full day wedding & evening reception) and how natural it looked whilst still covering up flaws! That said I never really took to the liquid form of the mineral makeup, too much fuss and nonsense applying it for my liking.
Then I tried Lily Lilo when my therapist brought that in to her salon. I didn't have great expectations as it was less than half the price of Jane Iredale, and I always think you get what you pay for!!....but I LOVE it!
Although I was shown how to apply it with a great consulation before I bought it...I also watched the videos on you tube.
I have mature skin....it does not make my wrinkles more noticable, quite the reverse actually.
I have dry patches......it covers them up and also hides any other flaws.
I am a total convert, and use the face powders, blusher, eye shadows and the transluscent finishing powder is my fave product....giving a lovely glow to the finished face! Because it is so much more affordable i don;t think twice about buying something to try, and my therapist says it flies off her shelves.

I don't find them messy at all...although I do only puncture a couple of holes in the protective covering rather than remove it. I also use professional brushes.

Just my thoughts from a consumers point of view.

I use Lily Lolo and IMO its fantastic, it gives a good coverage no chalky residue from sweaty breakouts lol, its definitely application techniques that you need to master, my skin has never looked so healthy :)

I'm exactly the same - Lily Lolo all the way and I'll never go back to liquid foundation......

Hi

I've been using Jane Iredale for over 2 years now and I love it. There is no rubbish added and gives the skin a healthy glow. You do need to be shown exactly how to apply it as it does take a little practice. There are 3 different foundations a pressed powder, loose powder and a liquid which are suited to different skin types and how heavy you want your coverage. I always get comments from people saying what good skin I have.

I would definatly try it but you do need the training. I dont think the training is expensive.

Goodluck, I'm sure you will find a product range which is right for you.

xx

I havnt got my samples yet from lily lolo unfortunatly but hopefully arrive 2moz as i did order over the weekend but its great to hear from vetty and izzidoll that they av only positive things to say about the product ^^

can i ask what brush u used to apply if it was the lily lolo own brand brush or a different brand, i think a good quality brush will be very important to a great application with minerals, been thinking of investing in the Mac kabuki if the minerals suit me.

Xx

I use the Lily Lolo brush. When I had decided on the right colour for me I ordered the kit which includes Foundation, Finishing Powder and the Kabuki brush.

The brush is really important because the powders need to be 'buffed' into the skin and you need a brush up to the job!

I also use the Lily Lilo brush and find it is excellent quality.

Can I just add, that I think my earlier post has jinxed me !!.......Yesterday I ended up taking the plastic cover off one of my blushers as not enough was getting through my punctured holes. This morning I forgot I had done this, picked it up gave it a good shake...then opened it, to find most if not all of the powder had come through :irked:
That woke me up!! ( note to self : use other blusher tomorrow!)

Is a little bit late but heres my review^^

Anyways I got my package earlier this morning all safe and sound, with 2 foundation types, 3 blushes, peep o and blush away concealers and the nude cover up.

After letting moisturiser to sink in I used my brush (just a dense powder brush) and applied the foundation as is directed, now if your medium skin toned and a little bit closer on the pale side do not pick "in the buff" as this is to my initial shock looked a little bit orangy muddy lookin on my skin o_O i should have gone for "blondie"me thinks.

So I thought ok the foundation isnt my colour but it isnt making my dry patches look dry and cakey so lets keep on going.

Next I applied the peepo concealer (yellow toned) again with a small dense brush, it definitly made a good improvment but if you got heavy duty dark circles you'd need something different i think.

The "blush away" for redness I used on a few break outs and acne scaring and its a really nice product blends lovely into the foundation gives pretty nice coverage......But..

Im in love love love with the "nude cover up" OMG this stuff is amazing!! I got the light/medium one and this stuff blended over the other concealers making my skin look near flawless and best of all it lightened up the foundation and gave me a much more natural colour (nice wee bonus for picking a too dark foundation). I think im going to try mixing it in with the foundation next time I use it.

The blush I chose today was "rosy apple", now these blushers are so fantastic you need only the tiniest amount of product and i mean the iddy biddiest, and it applies seamlessy and has a great colour payout im really really impressed with these, and i just know the little bags will last for aaaaages :) super happy.

So over all im really chuffed it looks extremely natural my combo skin is taking it well, my dry patches are not noticable and my breakouts and scaring realy well covered and best of all i dont feel as though my face is covered in make up. Ive a busyday ahead and this product is going to be put through its paces, il update later on its staying power etc

Pfew that was a lot ^^ hope it helped though

Babycakes, just a little tip. The Blondie foundation is very, very fair. I have quite fair skin and it was too fair for me, I ended up with Warm Peach (the lightest one from the warm section of the foundations) and that is a perfect match for me. Get samples for them both and give them both a try.

sorry to butt in but...i use blondie when im not tanned and in the buff when i am tanned. Try just going a bit easier with your in the buff maybe? i dont find its all that dark.

i love the stardust.... :D xxx

hmm mayb it was just on me cuz i used the tiniest amount of the foundation minerals, trial and error all the way tho lol good that you get samples im going to get a few more shades for sure.

Been wearing it all day been out doing treatments,to the theatre and bar after, even did a small workout and its still looks as good as new ^^ defo loving it, my dry bits dont look dry and my oily bits under controll realy cant complain, long story short id defo recommend it, just get your right colour! lol ^^

It will only look white on the photographs if the make up has light reflective particals in it. It will reflect the camera flash, hence looking white!!! I always use something matte!

I think different types of mineral powders suit different people, I had jane iredale applied at the beauty show last yr oh my god it was awful on me! looked really caked and went into every line on my face  I've been using a cheapo collection 2000 and it looks way better on me :) maybe best to see if u can get some sapmles too try? hth xx

I done the Jane Iredale Makeup Training and I agree with you, by the time you have done all the layers (and there are an awful lot of them!) you looked caked and it shows up every line and pore! I watched all there application videos and spoke to all the reps but i just didnt get it!!!!!!! I was told that I just needed to practise and it would get better and also when i complained about the lines and pores showing up I was told that you could never get the same results from the leaflets as the are obviously airbrushed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My arguement is if I, who is trained in make up application, cant seem to get a FLAWLESS coverage how are my clients meant to, and of course we got lots of complaints from our clients who said that they weren't getting the coverage that they expected or what is advertised!

I just stick with my Mac, the best foundation I have ever used!

For what its woth I think its great! Both as a make up and for my business. I use it on clients after all treatments and they love that, it makes me different from the person down the road. It retails very well and easily. I love it on my skin and they way it DOESN'T feel and the coverage is great. It is very different but overall a very good investment for my salon and clients. Lynne i agree with you about corrine and her products its nice to hear someone else say it and the range is very good.

The best thing i think is the exclusive zone we get which is very good for business. I was mortified yesterday when i went into House of Fraser only to see an ID stand in there. Of course i was interested so went and chatted, they made me look terrible, i've never know minerals to go on so badly. So i can understand some peoples issues.

This is interesting as I am having the Jane Iredale rep coming this week. I wonder if peeps are having application troubles if it is about whether the minerals are micronised or not. I understand that non micronised minerals provide better coverage with less product and that micronised minerals are lighter (and are controversial regarding health matters) but do not cover as well. I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this as I want to buy the right products.:)
