I use clinique 3 step skin care but coming towards my 30s I have started using a night cream too to prevent premature ageing. I cant use cliniques as it gives me spots for some reason, although nothing else does. Just coming to the end of Nivea Q10 pot and now thinking of trying something new, as it was ok but not fussed about buying it again. I am saving up so nothing that breaks the bank is any good but just wondered what you guys use?

i dont ...isnt that naughty of me.

Ive always had good skin and i do nothing to it really !

If i am going out or once a week at least i use my super dooper dead skin munchin' nimue exfoliater.

Other than that i splash with water in the morning, dry, dob on the nearest cream or solar oil.....thats it....

Ive just bought some elemis stuff, thats good too.

I think as long as you put SOMETHING on your face it doenst matter if its mega expesive or not.

However...night time is prob the most important time you SHOULD keep your face moisturised because with central heating etc in the air it can be really drying.......shame i dont follow my own advice:biggrin:

yeah I didnt used to bother with cleanse tone moisturise etc, just used face wash and some vitamin e cream but have noticed a real difference since I started looking after my skin. I used the boots time delay one before which was nice, i might get some more of that. Any other suggestions guys?

PS Im so jealous amber, I wish I could have great skin with no effort!!!

As far as i'm aware the more top end the product the better quaility ingredients are far as refinement goes.

If i were you i would go for something that contains natural ingredients with little or no preservatives/additives/perfumes. The reasons why we advise the use of night creams is to optimise the skins own healing process which happens mosthly at night when whe are at rest.

As tpo product/brand etc. I use Dermaogica and find it very good and my second choice would be Clarins. My 12 year old daughter has also started using dermalogica. Her skin is very sensitive and the barrier repair moisturiser is excellent for her.

Try emailing a few companis and ask for samples i'm sure you'll get some!

Seems the best way to find what's really right for you.

I use Oil of Olay for sensitive skin...keep trying others but always go back to this one I use the day cream under foundation and night cream at bedtime and that's it!
Having said that, most of us inherit our skin type and how it will look as we age from our parents so look at your mother and father and you will have an idea what your skin will be like when you are the age they are now.
One of the best things to help your skin is good old plain water....the more you drink the better your skin looks as it keeps it hydrated.

friggin hell I hope I dont have as many wrinkles as my mother when Im older! lol. Nah my mam isnt arsed with creams and she smoked for 30 years so I reckon I will have a better chance of staying youthful longer

I thought some products from the Elizabeth Arden range contained Lanolin. Not sure though can't remember.

not sure hun, but i have sensitive skin and prone to dry patches and the cold makes my skin worse but the serum i mentioned does not iritate it at all, i suppose it depends on the individuals skin, not sure how much it costs helen but i would go into debenhams or john lewis and ask for some samples im sure they will be able to sort something out hun.

Hmm I have cheekbones but they are hidden by my hamster cheeks lol.

Just had a thought....Geeg uses good old Solar Oil on her face, she apparently swears by it.

i have oily skin, do you think it will still be ok? I am not keen on putting oil on my face, i dont mind applying it to my arms and legs as the skin on my shins and forearms gets very dry and flaky (yes Im an oddbod, oily face and hair, dry skin on my body)

ahh so that the secret to keeping young like geeg then, if its good enough for geeg then its good enough for us lol

Hi Helen,

i've looked into a new facial range, Dr Hauschka. They believe that you shouldn't use a night cream. this has been taken off the website:

Would your skin be comfortable after cleansing if you didn't use a night cream? Try it, the chances are that it wouldn't. This is because your night cream is covering up the damage your cleansing routine has caused.
If your skin is really comfortable after cleansing, then that is excellent, but consider the extra burden the fatty night cream is to your skin. The skin is a layer of dead cells on the outside and a living system on the inside. The health of that living system today is the strength, firmness and comfort of your skin tomorrow. This is because the living cells beneath are constantly migrating upwards to replace the dead ones that naturally slough off in the course of the day.

go onto the site and have a look, My boss uses these products and thinks they are the bees knees. it does make a lot of sense!! if you go onto there website you can do an online consultation.

Pen xxx

i have heard of them pen. To be honest after I have done my normal removal etc my skin does feel comfortable - I just use a night cream as I thought you should really. I might try skipping it for a few days and just doing the clinique 3 step on its own
