hiya,

I want to start doing nail art as a hobby, just on tips, not on real peeps .. but not being a tech or qualified in any way, shape or form i am stuck at the first hurdle, so was wondering if anyone could help me out. :o

I have been looking at the various tips you can buy .. theres so many isnt there ! lol

I know i dont want white ones, its either clear or natural .. i think i like the clear ones, what would you recommend ?
Then there is the shapes .. these are the ones i have come across .. do they all have a specific purpose or is it just a case of which shape you prefer to work on ?

C- Curved Nail Tips
Square Nail Tips
Torpedo Nail Tips
Long Tapered Square Nail Tips

I have just ordered some pots of colour, tools, brushes etc .. and am now looking for a book .. i saw someone mentions K-sa-ra, so looking for that.

Many thanks for any help/advice you can give .. again, i am not qualified, i just want to do this as a hobby, on tips, in my spare time.

If they are simply for you to "play on" and you say you will not be doing it for peeps,go with the cheapest hth x

Adult Education centres do nail art courses, if you are interested.?? you dont need to be a nail tech, that way you get to pick uo loads of tips and ideas xx

I'd definitely go for the cheaper ones if it's just for a hobby!!

noooo i wont be doing it on peeps .. i dont have any nail qualifications at all .. i've always admired nail art from afar, but since being on this forum, and seeing what else can be done, i want to do it myself .. the ideas and skill shown on this forum is fantastic!

Our local college does nail tech courses, but no nail art courses. I have found one in sheffield, which is 3 buses away, but you need to have a manicurist qualification before you can attend. (edit: i have just been on this site to have another look, and cannot find anything that says you need a manicurist qualification .. i was either dreaming or getting mixed up with another site, sorry :o)(its unitedbeauty.co.uk)

I'd definitely go for the cheaper ones if it's just for a hobby!!

i've found that the cheap ones are fine and the largest ones are the best to practice on.
on my website, you'll notice that's all i use for display too.
