After help to perfect my acrylics
I have been trained for a year but had a baby between this so not been on it
I use nsi attraction and have star nails brush
I go through brushes like hot dinners and am really struggling to get a smooth, close to cuticle application that doesn't lift
I do a full nail prep using cnd cuticle away which I take off with soapy water spray and used scrub fresh to clean the nail plate
I just can't seem to get them not looking lumpy and not hammer my brush
Please help

In your training were you taught how to apply liquid & powder and how to use your brush?

Yes I'm just having problems with ratio and I think having a baby I between training and now I've lost a bit of the nack
(Also asking for help not bitchyness)

She isn't being bitchy. Lots of dodgy courses out there.

It came across a bit like that
Yes I trained using nsi attraction and brush like I say really struggling

why not ask your trainer if there's a chance of having a top-up lesson or book on a 1-2-1? I didn't train with NSI but CND have been great; my local educator answers questions if I email her and critiques my practise, even after completing my L+P course months ago and I know others who have re-done certain courses. It sounds like you could do with someone sitting down with you and watching so they can help you out. Good luck x

Nsi Scotland couldn't be more helpful with regards to my nail and tanning queries and also business advice. As Struckbyastar advises, contact them for some follow up training. It wouldn't take me ch to sort out the ratio. Also check out nail angels videos. They are great for Nsi products.

Blossom (edit to correct the name - doh!) wasn't being bitchy, she asked a reasonable question, we get a lot of DIYers wanting free advice that we've paid hundreds of pounds for in training, as you well know from your training costs.

Product left in your brush is a basic beginners mistake and should have been covered in your training, you're right in that it's a ratio issue. A refresher, or 1-2-1 course would be your best course of action. You'll save money on the long run as you won't need to keep replacing brushes!

I am Trinity The Brush Slayer - I trashed more brushes in the first 4 years than I care to admit to :rolleyes:

By looking at the pictures, I would say your application & bead size are probably your main problems. The product is way to bulky at the cuticle, which had nothing to do with ratio, & will also cause a major lift issue. Remember the brush should act as a barrier between product and cuticle!
N.B blossom is one of the loveliest geeks on here! Her knowledge is invaluable & the question being asked by her was to gain more info to help you!

Hiya definitely try some more practicing with your ratios! Possibly investing in some practice nail tips or a trainer hand would be good for this?
I'd try using a smaller more wet bead closer to the cuticle, place it slightly away from the cuticle and push back.
The wetter bead will give you more time to smooth it out before it dries and will give you less bumps that you need to file out.
Hope this helps :) xxxx

Product left in your brush is down to ratio, which has already been said. If it's any consolation I knew I was having an off day yesterday and shouldn't have attempted my own nails in the mood I was in and now have my brush soaking in monomer

I've been beauty trained for over 10 years acrylic is just a new addition to my belt definitely not a diy lol
I trained with nsi products not the company I have tried to go back to my trainer but she has left the company she was with to start up alone and now wants to charge me to full course amount again which tbh I'm not in the situation to do.
I did my own nails tonight and left hand looks pretty good still getting there with the right
It's is the staying power with clients which is difficult because I spend more time redoing lost nails!
Also a full set takes me forever (2-3 hours)
Infills about 2
The cuticle and side walls are my main problem I find it hard to buff around those areas with out hurting clients

Hey.
I understand your frustration.
Try smaller beads when working in the 3 zones. The cuticle application should be slightly wetter. Gently pat and stroke into place.
If clients are losing their nails it's either cuticle still left on the nail bed or the ratio is incorrect. Takes loads of practise but you will get there...X

I run another file over the sides of the file I'm using before use, this smoothed the surface a little and makes it less likely to cut your client!
I also get some of that Nail Tech tape (I have used plasters when I run out) and put it round my thumb, which I place at the cuticle or just on top of it, this means that instead of getting the clients skin you are rubbing the file on your own protected skin.
I have done this for about two years and it works wonders for me :)
Xxx

Try using a finer grit file near the cuticle area until you are more confident. That really helped me. (I used the nail harmony 240/240 file) x

This is a great video for a perfect cuticle application so you have nearly no filing!
YN cuticle application video:

Here is a video for prepping the nail. It amazed me how I thought I was doing a good prep but after watching this I realized how wrong I was! I bet you will be amazed too!

These 2 videos have really improved my acrylics & I hope they help with yours as well!

That's impressive. I've replaced mine twice in a year as they eventually splay while working
